@vanguardngrnews One of two things wud happen for Trump to hv his way, getting the Iranian authorities to acknowledge an input frm him in the choice of a new supreme leader. It is either Iran capitulates in the ongoing war, or the US take over the country. As it is,it won't work.

UNESCO is deeply alarmed by the impact of the ongoing military escalation in the Middle East on educational institutions, students, and education personnel. Initial reports indicate that an attack on a girls' primary school in Minab, southern Iran, has resulted in the deaths of over 100 individuals, including numerous students. The killing of pupils in a place dedicated to learning constitutes a grave violation of the protection afforded to schools under international humanitarian law. Attacks against educational institutions endanger students and teachers and undermine the right to education. In accordance with its mandate and with United Nations Security Council Resolution 2601 (2021), UNESCO recalls the obligations of all parties to protect schools, students and education personnel.

Amnesty International Nigeria
Amnesty International Nigeria@AmnestyNigeria·
Amnesty International strongly condemns yesterday’s deadly attack on prominent opposition figures in Benin city Edo state, as gunmen opened fire on a convoy of politicians — including Peter Obi — at the residence of former governor of Edo state Chief John Odigie-Oyegun. The armed thugs trailed convoy of the politicians from ADC secretariat to Chief Odigie-Oyegun’s residence, where they fired gunshots in all directions and vandalized cars. This alarming pattern of repression against the opposition had occurred in other states. Nobody should die simply for exercising their rights to freedom of association and peaceful assembly. This pattern of brutal campaign of repression against the opposition and its supporters, is going to make it extremely difficult for them to exercise their rights to freedom of association and peaceful assembly. Government must immediately open impartial and thorough investigations into the horrifying incident. Those responsible should be brought to justice in fair trials. The Nigerian authorities must uphold their human rights obligations and allow the opposition to hold its campaign rallies without undue restrictions and without subjecting their leaders and supporters to violence, arrests, torture or other ill-treatment.
