Unbeknownst to many, I converted Green Beret to the Amiga for AmiGameJam 2021. Emphasis on converted, not port: a port requires access to source code while converting implies a recreation without code/support from original studio (which was mostly the case back then on computers). It also means lower hw specs (Green Beret runs on A500 - if it was reverse engineered code from arcade it'd perhaps require A1200 as even the simplest arcade games ran on monster hardware).

Time to revisit the box art of the original Rick Dangerous and see what it would look like if it truly reflected the cartoony style of the game. New Rick Dangerous Limited Edition Art Print available from my ko-fi store. (ko-fi.com/simonphippsart…) Thanks for watching!

@RetroBrothers Not on the Spectrum, but I had it on the C64 - came on The Thriller Collection 6-game bundle. Can't say I played it much - I ought to try it again some day.

Who remembers The Pyramid on the #ZXSpectrum? Released in 1983 by Fanty Software, it was an arcade adventure featuring multiple screens and varying enemies. I had this on the Softaid compilation and never seemed to get very far with it. Anyone else fair better? #RETROGAMING

@oldyzach Always loved this intro....apart from the bit at 00:38 where the animators struggled with the concept of the humble elbow...I sometimes wonder if it's meant to symbolise the alternate reality of the chip, but I think it's just wonky animation 😉

@codetapper @dantemendes The opening rock guitar intro of the Amiga version is brilliant - best thing about the port. In fairness, Sales Curve did a good job of porting what, in my opinion, is a bland arcade racer. If the source material isn't great, it's down hill from there...

@dantemendes The Amiga version has fantastic music, the ST version not so much! The gameplay is pretty boring though compared to Out Run (not the 16-bit versions obviously, as they are complete shit) youtu.be/o_FWGbD2eIQ

BIG RUN for Commodore Amiga (The Sales Curve, 1992) Originally released by Jaleco for arcade and set in the Paris-Dakar rally. The player drives a Porsche 959. Amiga and ST versions are competent, playing more smoothly than the Super Famicom port made in Japan.🏁 #AmigaReposts

@oldyzach This is some of the worst dialogue in the film - it doesn't even make any sense. It's like Monkey Island insult sword fighting, where someone has cut all the actor's lines into strips and decided to stick them together randomly!
