@johnredwood They seem very resistant to making use of our own gas. Is there some reason for that?

UK gas is four times the cost of US gas. There is no world price for gas by pipe. Domestic gas down a pipe is cheaper than imported liquefied gas. Why can’t BBC interviewers and government Ministers understand that?

Scotland is rich in energy, so why do we pay some of the highest bills in Europe? Because we don’t control our own energy resources. Independence is how we can lower bills and ensure our energy wealth works in the interests of Scotland - not Westminster.

@neiloport @L__Macfarlane The point being made by the OP is that yoons like you claim Scotland’s more progressive income tax is “driving people out the country.” That is simply not the case as the graph proves, no one is leaving in droves like your precious Brit media claims. 😉

@AlOxon67 @L__Macfarlane What the fuck are you talking about! The major changes have been in the past 2 - 3 years and the charts show a drop in rUK to Scot between 2022-23 & increase in people leaving & drop on net migration as far as the graphs go, the trajectory is opposite of what’s being claimed

NEW: We often hear that Scotland’s more progressive income tax is “driving people out the country.” New HMRC data shows the opposite. Far more taxpayers are moving to Scotland than leaving it. Let’s look at the data 🧵

@AlOxon67 @cuptie77 @JohnSwinney Well done for sticking to Nat rule 1: when you can't win an argument, descend to outright abuse and denigration, thus proving that your brainwash was successful. Keep crying!

@AlOxon67 @cuptie77 @JohnSwinney When someone posts something I already know to be extremely likely, why would I not agree with them? They make far more sense than someone who posts a fat lie then follows by being rude. No separatist has yet given any evidence for your cult belief system. Keep crying!

@seventeenscones @L__Macfarlane Facts matter 😉the additional Scot Gov tax does not contribute to the benefit of unemployment and I don’t pay £1500 rent in Scotland 🤣 Like 89-95% of prescription “items” are free, not free for 95% of population

@AlOxon67 @L__Macfarlane Way to miss the point entirely. The SNP are responsible for the economy and employment in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 And having 1 in 4 working age 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 contributing zero tax is ok with you as long as someone else is paying for it?

@neiloport @L__Macfarlane You were inferring that changes were only relevant in the past 2 years, that is completely wrong and you know it. Can’t believe you actually did double down 🤣 Have u not got some colonial boots to lick 🤮 And there is really no need for the derogatory disability comment 🤮

@rabster88 @McGinleyForAyr @kirstyjmcneill I expect misogynists like you would prefer all women to be home baking bread (and cleaning the toilet because their men that can’t aim straight). The likes of you put women off going into politics . And let’s face it, men are rubbish at it. Grow up.

Delighted to be joined by Scotland Minister Kirsty McNeill who announced £5 Million to support local jobs at Prestwick Airport. That’s 450, high paid, high skilled jobs. That’s 60 apprenticeships for our young people. That’s a UK Labour government delivering for you.

Matter of fact, I lived in Jo'burg and didn't have to spend much on private security, which we had. And Scotland is *not* like Jo'burg. Well, not yet anyway. We're not quite at the electric fence and armed guard stage so far as I've noticed. Kindly don't spout about something you've never experienced or could understand. Been there, done that. I know exactly what it's like. Anyway, get back in the bucket with the other crabs.

Today in #FMQs, Russell is absolutely right to call out Scotland’s staggering tax burden under the SNP. How can it be fair that someone earning £50k is £1,500 worse off than anywhere else in the UK? Hard working Scots are being squeezed while the benefits bill soars to £7bn on the SNP’s watch. This is not progressive. It is unsustainable. People across Scotland are right to have had enough.

@AnnieWells2026 I moved back to Scotland 2.5 years ago Annie. Paying that income tax rate. But I don't notice it because my council tax is lower on a comparable property and I don't have an additional £700 separate water bill. I'm more than happy to be paying my way for services in Scotland 👍

@AlOxon67 @L__Macfarlane Your second paragraph is the reality. If you were paying £1500 rent in Scotland and being shafted by an SNP government doing nothing to deal with the 1 in 4 “economically inactive” working age Scots you certainly would not be saying “happy paying a bit extra” 😂😂😂

@seventeenscones @L__Macfarlane Nonsense, high earner here, no problem paying a bit more extra to help others and receive better services. Easy decision £500 mortgage in Scotland versus £1500 rent in England.

@L__Macfarlane It’s not hard to understand what’s happening here. If you’re paid up to £40k you’re going to pay slightly less tax in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 than 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿. If you’re earning £50k+ you’re paying much more tax in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 than 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 So high earners may well be leaving and being replaced with low earners
