To takeoff from the moon they needed 3,000 gallons of fuel. This is the lunar lander in its totality. This is the amount of fuel it would need. The devil is in the details.

@robprogressive Yes. You're cherry picking the comparator. According to BofE CPI calculator, £1 in 1999 is worth about £2 today. So minimum wage is over-paying. As Harold Wilson said: "one person's pay rise is another's price rise"

In 1999, when the UK minimum wage was introduced, it was £3.60 per hour That’s £144 per week for a 40-hour job Gold in 1999 averaged about £180 per troy ounce, so a minimum-wage worker earned roughly 0.8 oz of gold per week Today, with gold around £1,600 per ounce, that same 0.8 oz would be worth about £1,280 per week - roughly £32 per hour Today’s UK minimum wage for adults is £11.44 per hour Do you understand what’s going on?

The comments on this post are enough to make you completely give up on the British public. Clarkson's always said this, the attitude of British people stinks. He said in the USA, if they see someone in a nice car, they think 'thats nice, one day I'll have one of those' And in Britain, if they see someone in a nice car, they think 'thats nice, one day I'll have him out of that'. How on earth has Britain become a nation of jealous, bitter losers...?

@realnedk An oversimplification There’s also an explanation in there that the lack of support she’s crying out for isn’t a football issue - it’s a life issue And then also yes… the significant difference in salary makes a difference on the impact

At 29 years old I experienced one of the low points in my career so far… I was headhunted by a local customer and invited to visit his site for an “interview”. I say “interview” because it felt like a formality - this man knew me already, was CEO of a successful business and my visit ended with an introduction to the team, a verbal job offer and a handshake… “Speak with your fiancée and make sure it’s right for both of you… we can’t wait for you to join us. You’ll have your offer in writing in your inbox by CoP tomorrow” I get home, understandably, buzzing… telling my soon-to-be wife that the job’s mine. I’ll be moving from £24k annual basic to £35k! We celebrate. I call my parents. We draft my notice letter…. This is life-changing for a couple with a mortgage and wedding to pay for… And then we wait… … nothing. I call… … nothing. I text and email… … nothing. Ghosted. 👻 The next I hear from this man was when he viewed my LinkedIn profile after I eventually moved jobs ELEVEN MONTHS LATER! The initial fortnight of uncertainty was horrendous and took a serious toll on me. So back to Dwight’s plight… I can see how devastating it must be to a couple in their 20s to have a career move collapse at the twelfth hour snd be stuck getting by on £77k per week… But it’s not football that doesn’t consider your mental health… it’s life and business in general. All facets of professional life are riddled with bad actors who are too cowardly to stand up and be seen while they toy with your life… But one thing I’ve since learned is that pound notes do, in fact, absorb tears pretty well 🤷‍♂️
Football Away Days@FBAwayDays

Dwight McNeil’s partner has had her say about Crystal Palace after her boyfriends move collapsed yesterday: “Tonight, and the last 48 hours, have broken my heart to see how the football world you love so much can be so cruel to you. To have something promised to you, to have been dragged along on an emotional rollercoaster, and to be toyed with until the final minute. To have 4 and a half years of your life promised to you, traveling, medicals, agreements made... promises made. To have prepared to move your entire life, our life’s 100s of miles away in the space of a few hours. For it to be torn away from you at the last second, with absolutely no explanation. Going from everything - to radio silence, no phone call, no communication and be left, broken hearted with nothing but confusion, has hurt more than I can say. I sit with you, knowing in my heart and deep down into my soul that you will bounce back from this. I am your biggest supporter. I know you will overcome this with a fire in your belly and a motivation that no one can stop. I have already seen it tonight, even whilst you’re facing the lowest point of your career. We live in a world where everyone is aware how big of a problem mental health is, so in football, why do we find it acceptable because these young men are on a lot of money, that it’s okay to mess and toy with their mental health and that’s it just ‘part of the job’! No matter of money, we all deserve to be treated with respect, kindness and fairly. So I really question the industry tonight. I only hope there’s more done in the future to protect people from situations like what I’ve witnessed tonight. Football is brutal and yes, it’s the nature of the beast, but messing with human beings feelings and emotions shouldn’t be acceptable. People only see one side on the media, you don’t see the tears, the emotion and the distress I’ve seen tonight.” This doesn’t look great on Crystal Palace... 🫣

🟢🟡 | MCGEE SECURES ALL 3 POINTS LATE ON! What a finish! What a result for the boys in yellow and green. Linnets grab a late free-kick in a dangerous area with minutes to spare, up steps Harry McGee to fire underneath the wall as it jumps to find the back of the net! Runcorn finish the night top of the league! Next up? Lower Break away on Saturday... @NorthernPremLge

@Afirst05 @Steve_Laws_ The problem is where to draw the line, and how to enforce that line. Something needs to change but undoing what’s already happened is a formidable challenge.

You were put in prison because you kicked off about three little girls being murdered which you were right to do. Where you went wrong is not using your brain to acknowledge the fact that this African murderer was born here and by making allowances now, you're basically saying it doesn't matter because he was born here or came over legally. Illegal immigration is a tiny fraction of the problem. Focusing on that allows more Southport attacks to occur. Every single one must go. Use your brain FFS.
Lucy Connolly@LucyTCWife

Honestly this app makes me laugh. The left- you’re a fat racist cunt. The right- you’re not racist enough and are a retard if you don’t want every single non British person kicked out the country! It seems people just want to go on the attack for the sake of going on the attack. I mean, I guess we have enough home grown, knuckle dragging morons without importing more. No wonder the country is fucked. I won’t be apologising to any of you for MY views. You can all get fucked!!

I was putting some bread through the hotel toaster at the breakfast buffet and another guest stood by my side and faced me instead of standing behind me. As the toast appeared out the bottom of the toaster, he held his plate towards me. He was expecting me to give him my toast. He thought I was a toast server.

🟡🟢 | Full time here at the APEC Taxis Stadium. A fantastic second half showing by the Linnets turned the game on it's head. McGee equalised early in the second half, then set up Miller who put the Linnets ahead. A late diving header by Graham secured the points for the Linnets in what was a crucial game. We finish the evening in 2nd spot with the summit now in touching distance as today's opponents now sit just 3 points clear. We are back in action again on Saturday as we welcome @TheDabbers for another big game here. Linnets 4-2 @lowerbreck @PitchingIn_
