Organiser of the annual Great War Forum Conference - but haven't yet found a war that I'm not interested in. Views my own.

Bit cloistered out but dang, those Cathars, eh? Plus, got to love an Abbott’s sense of mischief for the ceiling paintings in his **checks notes** ‘private rooms’.

Things were going well til 2 minutes ago. We've had a holiday booked for months; Newcastle-Amsterdam (⛴️) - Italy (🚅🛌) to see the Boss live in Rome. @unsereOEBB have only just told us that due to strikes, the 🚅 is now cancelled. Now to find a way from 🇳🇱-🇮🇹 not by train.

“He noticed for the first time some small figures in blue, that the sand was pink, and, finally, the precious substance of the tiny patch of yellow wall…” Proust’s description of the death of Bergotte. But which is the “petit pan de mur jaune"? This?

Caught up on LinkedIn and realise that there's never any challenge to some people's claims/self-promoting. Often no evidence, yet numerous supportive comments/applause from people who only see that part of the individual they want to reveal. Wonder if meeting would change that?

@HMRCcustomers Thanks - it is an income tax query and I did get through after waiting for 30 minutes. It is just annoying that I can't be told where I am in the queue

@HartMilitary I'd like to go but it depends what condition my immune system is in and whether The Christie team say "Yay" or "nay". I'll know on Tuesday. Fingers crossed...

If anyone has any leads for WW2 historians in New Zealand I would be grateful please. I've tried messaging The New Zealand Military Historical Society a couple of times but received no reply

#STORMEUNICE It's a miracle that this sizeable & very heavy spire tip, with windvane & lightning conductor, didn't hit anyone as it came crashing-down at St Thomas Church in #Wells, #Somerset around noon. Video captured by Matthew Hodson (many thanks for sending to @BBCBristol)
