A far-right influencer was convicted for saying something contested about the ethnicity of sexual offenders in France. The judge in her tribunal said it doesn't matter if it's true or not. You might not care about what happens to people who are overtly racist, but it matters for all of us that we can't speak freely without risking being dragged through the courts. The French love scrapping over politics, especially around the dinner table and on TV panels (they all talk over each other like a tree full of parakeets, it’s hilarious). I wonder what kind of effect this clampdown on "stigmatising" speech will have on their ability to continue enjoying this noisy national pastime. Anyone at any time can get accused of saying something that’s provably true but inconvenient for social harmony, or hurty to knicker adventurers who wish we would all pretend they are gals like me and you.

In just 8 years, China pumped out more carbon emissions than Britain has produced in 250 years. Net zero is wrecking our industry, and driving up our energy bills, but it's having zero impact on global climate. It's time to scrap Net Zero for good.

@Hobbycraft apparently bars GC people from its shops. I was in the #Dundee store with my partner today. Staff member wore a badge reading ‘no terfs no tories’ as part of her uniform. We confronted the badge. We got chucked out for doing so.
