I have noticed that some Dan Corder fans think he made some kind of a breakthrough on Piers Morgan's show. I had to rewatch to understand why.
He had some creative insults, which is a good debate tactic, but says nothing about the actual argument.
As far as the argument is concerned, all he did was to argue that race laws are not race laws because it discriminates on other grounds as well - that race laws are not race laws when it also discriminates on the basis of gender. What Dan and his fans don't seem to comprehend is that if a law discriminates on the basis of race and gender, that only means that it's both a race law and a gender law. Dan's argument is the logical equivalent of saying that apartheid didn't discriminate against black people, because it discriminated against Indian people too. Imagine how bizarre it would sound if I tried to make an argument on the basis of Dan's logic.
Furthermore, he went on the argue that race laws are good for the economy, because the black middle class is growing as a result of it.
He went on to argue that black people need race laws (even though he denies that they are race laws because they are also gender laws) to succeed, by suggesting that if it weren't for these laws, the black middle class wouldn't have grown. I find this type of reasoning utterly condescending, not to white people, but to black people. Dan's entire argument is based on the belief that black people cannot succeed by themselves and require government intervention. There is a term for this. It's called the soft bigotry of low expectations.
Some have argued that I didn't respond to these claims and interpret this as some kind of a win. I didn't respond because he said this right at the end of the debate after I had made my final remarks. He made an exceptionally weak argument and an easy one to dismantle.

@Rolandschoeman @dricusduplessis You see @Rolandschoeman, to be a SA role model, you represent not only your own culture but that of many. This is where I take my hat off to the Springboks, they know what it takes and how to galvanize a country beyond their achievements & their own differences. Take some notes

I hate to pile on but I can’t with Libbok anymore. He has a glaring issue in his game that he can’t or won’t correct. His other skills don’t make up for it.

@RaviGaj20089803 @FrontRowRugbyXV It took many years after democracy to get to this point. It didn’t change overnight, we were patient for years. So why can’t others be patient now. And if they don’t want to change, then it’s their hearts after all

@Alberic06 @FrontRowRugbyXV If you haven’t worked out by now what the Boks stand for and how much the team means to our country and vice versa, then there’s no amount of winning or patient logic that will penetrate.
