Amazon Games VP Jeff Gattis thinks the future of gaming might not need a console at all as hardware keeps getting more expensive, more people could turn to cloud gaming instead. “If hardware gets more and more expensive, then I think streaming will become a lot more attractive to people.” He also said cloud gaming has improved a lot over the last few years and is finally a realistic option for more players. “The technology has come a long way. It’s much more viable than it used to be.” Gattis admitted plenty of players will still want dedicated hardware, especially where internet speeds aren’t good enough for game streaming.

GAME has entered administration... again. This marks the third time in the last decade that the retailer has found itself in administration. At this point, you have to wonder how many more times it can happen before the GAME name disappears for good. It's difficult not to point to how the brand has been handled under Frasers Group. Moving GAME from dedicated stores into small concessions inside Sports Direct stripped away much of what made it iconic. What was once a destination for gamers gradually became little more than a corner in a sports shop, leaving the brand as a shadow of its former self. It's genuinely sad to see. For many of us, GAME was where we queued for midnight launches, picked up pre-orders and spent hours browsing the shelves for our next adventure. Whatever your thoughts on the future of physical gaming, potentially losing another piece of the UK's gaming high street history is something no gamer should celebrate.

You know, maybe the emphasis on the past in modern media isn't as complicated as "hauntology" or whatever. Maybe it's because every billion dollar media machine is full of people who fell upwards through the ranks and genuinely don't know how to make anything good, so they just copy what worked before

When I was a kid, my dad and I bemoaned the endless shitty rap flooding the radio station we liked, and I suggested the government create a licensing system for artists so we could stop the bad ones. Naturally, he thought this was a terrible idea, and over the years I came to agree with him But when you see movies like The Odyssey, Joker 2, True Detective Night Country, etc, you start to imagine what the world would be like if we could imprison or publicly flog directors who inflict this dogshit slop on us
