Delighted to receive a few weeks ago vol. 10 of The Cambridge History of International Law, edited by Robert Kolb and Momchil Milanov. It includes my chapter, “The Americas at the Time of the League of Nations.”👇

Trump's rhetoric on expansion is based on long-standing imperial designs that are linked to a hegemony-facilitating interpretation of the Monroe Doctrine. See for example this map from a 1915 issue of Seven Seas, a magazine produced by the Navy League of the United States.

UoN Anti-Casualisation Network
We have long insisted casualisation in HE is inextricably linked with racial inequalities. This is starkly illustrated by @UniofNottingham's decision recruit a TA to convene modules on anticolonial struggle, via a part-time, six-month, casual contract #WeAreUoN

Even as a politics lecturer in a Middle East department, I am lost. Israel has a right to self defence, but Lebanon does not? Israelis have the right to be safe, but Palestinians do not? Iran can’t launch missiles into civilian areas, but Israel can? None of this is coherent.

A message from our General Secretary and President to all UCU members: “As a union, our duty is to take the fight against racism and fascism into every workplace and community we have a foothold in. There will always be those who organise–from above and from below–to divide us and sow hatred. As educators and trade unionists, we will work tirelessly to defeat them."    ➡️ tinyurl.com/3c2r56nt
