What no one is talking about that everyone should be talking about is how agents will remove the switching cost of SaaS providers, turning previously irreplaceable systems into carcasses of data repositories. That is when SaaS will really be hit.

Legora doesn't have a single European VC on its cap table. That's CRAZY. It's the fastest ever YC company to become a unicorn, and it's built by Europeans in Europe and yet largely owned by American investors. I was at a talk where @HarryStebbings said "European VCs are asleep at the wheel" This is asleep at the wheel. Benchmark, YC, Redpoint, ICONIQ, GC, Bessemer etc... are on the cap table. I can't find a single mention of a European VC anywhere. @joelhellermark is literally the only European investor I can find in relation to the company. It's not enough for Europe to build great companies. To truly capture the upside they need to be: > European-founded > Backed by European VCs > Who are funded by European LPs Otherwise we're leaking value to other parts of the world. This is, by no means, a call for European founders to only take cash from European VCs. It's a call for European VCs to WAKE UP and get competitive. If anyone has any data about @WeAreLegora's cap table that says otherwise let me know - I would LOVE to be proved wrong here.

Trials for hydrogen heating were cancelled by the last govt after pushback from residents on safety, cost, feasibility etc A small trial in Fife is the only one still going BUT basically the only ones who see a role for hydrogen in heating are the gas industry 👀

@jessralston2 This is such a good point missed by almost everyone. You need a heating system, so comparing the cost with 0 is totally misleading.

3) On top of all that... a new gas boiler costs about £2,500 anyway, so when replacing a boiler, a heat pump could end up being just £2,500 extra overall! Heat pumps = energy security, running increasingly off British electricity vs gas boilers running increasingly off imports✨

1) Quite a misleading @Telegraph piece here: the 'average' heat pump cost is not £12,800 as cited in the article A £7,500 Govt grant goes to every homeowner who installs a heat pump, meaning the 'average' cost is closer to £5,000.

COP28 is now on the verge of complete failure. The world desperately needs to phase out fossil fuels as quickly as possible, but this obsequious draft reads as if OPEC dictated it word for word. It is even worse than many had feared. It is “Of the Petrostates, By the Petrostates and For the Petrostates.” It is deeply offensive to all who have taken this process seriously. There are 24 hours left to show whose side the world is on: the side that wants to protect humanity’s future by kickstarting the orderly phase out of fossil fuels or the side of the petrostates and the leaders of the oil and gas companies that are fueling the historic climate catastrophe. In order to prevent COP28 from being the most embarrassing and dismal failure in 28 years of international climate negotiations, the final text must include clear language on phasing out fossil fuels. Anything else is a massive step backwards from where the world needs to be to truly address the climate crisis and make sure the 1.5°C goal doesn’t die in Dubai.
