The UK has just got another unicorn. This time it is fintech Moneybox. The company is conducting a £45m secondary sale at an £800m valuation. The company is using Pisces, which is the LSE's new private market platform, with the process being managed by Crowdcube. The UK Fintech recorded £115 million of revenue, £15 million of pre-tax profit, and manages over £19bn of assets. It has become the second company to use Pisces after Wayve ran at $85m secondary last week. This is a phenomenal opportunity for liquidity for early employees which we LOVE TO SEE. This is also fantastic for the @Crowdcube team, who have run both the Moneybox and the Wayve transactions. It's also a huge success for Pisces. It wasn't clear at all that this was ever going to be used or successful. The fact that two great companies have used it in the space of two weeks is a really positive sign for UK capital markets.

If you’re looking for high conviction investors in Europe look no further than the investors who backed Helsing in 2021. At the time Defence investing in Europe wasn’t just unfashionable, it was unthinkable for most firms. Despite that, Daniel Ek (@eldsjal) and @shak of @PrimaMateria_ led the €100M round in Helsing. 5 years later the company is worth $18bn and the round has been massively oversubscribed. Being contrarian pays.

DAMN - @HelsingAI has raised $1.8bn at an $18bn valuation. This is significantly higher than the $1.2bn it was rumored to be raising. The round has clearly been massively oversubscribed. Goes to show how far defence investing has changed in such a short space of time here in Europe.

A reminder of how far we've come. This article from the Guardian highlighted how well Britain was doing in Tech in 2016 - we had 18 unicorns out Europe's total of 47. Ten years later, there are over 600 unicorns in Europe, and almost 200 in the UK. There's still a long way to go. But fortunately we know we can get there, because we've already come such a long way.

This fund has just shut down. I assume it was because of the article below. According to someone from the firm, they "recently learned that Yann has existing exclusive relationships with other funds that were not fully understood at the time". This is wild. Yann was out raising for a fund despite having exclusivity relationships with another fund. It's not clear which fund, although he was appointed as an adviser to European VC firm Hiro Capital last year. I watched @jordihays and @johncoogan discussing the fund on @tbpn like 25 minutes ago. Europe now has category leaders across the AI stack A new report by Headline has mapped the top 100 AI companies across Europe by each layer of the AI stack. From the frontier labs to intelligent hardware, Europe is now building category leaders at each layer of the stack. What's particularly amazing to see is how quickly things have changed in the last year. There have been multiple $1bn rounds that have gone into the companies that are on this image, some of these companies didn't even exist a year ago. HUGE CONGRATS to those on the top 100 list. @JonUsero @HeadlineVC
