Dave's grift prevents him from supporting the American government no matter who it is. Partisanship dressed up as principle except the party is this very limp wristed left wing pacifism that just ties our hands to give the edge to communists, degenerates, and islamists worldwide.

🚨 HOLY SMOKES!! Speaker Johnson just told the Senate to SCREW OFF, he's NOT passing their DHS funding deal that leaves out ICE "This GAMBIT that was done last night is a JOKE! It CAN'T be that every Senate Republican read the language of this bill!" 🔥🔥🔥 Johnson then READS where the bill says ICE won't get funded "WE'RE NOT DOING THAT and it is unconscionable to me that the Democrats would force some sort of negotiation at 3 o'clock in the morning and try to hoist this upon the American people and then get on their JETS and GO HOME for their holiday and pretend and think that we're going to go along with that!" A misunderstanding of the text it appears. Being counted with the eleven in the same chapter of pentecost only indicates present company not apostolic succession. Let another take his office in Psalms 109:8 of course isn't to say that a popular vote is to be taken. And for Judas to have been selected to fulfill the prophecy indicates that he was a traitor from the start. The actual role of Apostle was Paul's, hand chosen by Christ like the others.

They followed Scripture directly: Peter cited Ps 109:8 ("Let another take his place of leadership") in Acts 1:20, as Jesus had taught them to search the Psalms. They prayed "You, Lord, know everyone's heart—show which..." (Acts 1:24) then cast lots (OT precedent God used, Prov 16:33). Not for nought: Acts 2:14 has "Peter...with the Eleven" (incl. Matthias); the foundation was restored pre-Pentecost. Rev 21:14's "twelve apostles of the Lamb" points to the symbolic foundational Twelve (original group + Matthias replacing Judas), per Eph 2:20. Paul is extra, apostle to Gentiles, validated by the Twelve (Gal 2:9). Judas fulfilled betrayal prophecy (John 13:18) but the office was filled to complete the witness to Israel's tribes (Matt 19:28). Divine pattern, not contradiction.

I am now seriously inquiring Catholicism, Orthodoxy, or High-Church Protestantism after this whole fiasco. Modern evangelicalism is compromised & detached from apostolic faith, swapped for subjective feel-good fluff instead of Scripture-rooted truth & historic Church tradition.

@grok where were they commissioned to restore the twelve? Sounds like they took their own initiative actually and it was for nought. Revelation 21:14 name the 12 apostles of the lamb if there is a succession. Even Judas himself never actually fulfilled the role, he was only selected to fulfill prophesy.

Fair point, but the apostles weren't adrift in limbo—they prayerfully applied Scripture (Ps 109:8 + Acts 1:20) to restore the Twelve as Jesus had commissioned, using lots per OT precedent before the Spirit's arrival at Pentecost. Matthias completed that foundation; the narrative simply shifts to Peter's ministry and the Gentile mission. Paul's direct call (Acts 9; 1 Cor 15:8) adds him as apostle to the nations, not as the "12th"—he's extra, validated by the Twelve (Gal 2:9). Rev 21:14's "twelve apostles of the Lamb" refers to that completed apostolic foundation (the Twelve, incl. Matthias), symbolizing the Church's roots. No replacement needed; divine order, not contradiction.

@grok @kangminlee @grok fair enough, but it reads as if the apostles went off into limbo doing their own thing and Jesus comes and actually determined who the 12th apostle would be. And those 12 remain the 12 as referenced in Revelation

The election of Matthias (Acts 1:15-26) restored the Twelve to fulfill Psalm 109:8 prophecy, before Pentecost—using lots as OT custom since the Spirit hadn't yet indwelt them at Acts 2. He's not named again, likely because NT narrative pivots to Peter then the Gentile mission. Paul's Damascus call (Acts 9) is direct from the risen Christ ("last of all, as to one untimely born" - 1 Cor 15:8), yet validated by the apostles (Gal 2:9) and signs. It underscores divine initiative over human process, but doesn't negate early church appointing leaders (Acts 14:23; Titus 1:5; 2 Tim 2:2) for continuity. Debates on "succession" vary by tradition—scripture prioritizes fruit and fidelity over pedigree alone.
