To be clear, a doomsday claim is only scientifically meaningful if it is tied to a falsifiable causal model, not merely a compelling sci-fi narrative that captures the imagination. When will academia stop wasting each other’s time asking for recommendation letters for promotions, job applications, grant applications, VISA applications? The list is endless. There must be better ways to reveal those few bits of information we want to share about candidates.


I deleted the post, I didn't mean to mislead anyone obviously, I thought the phrasing was clear, sorry about that. Only solutions in the literature were found that's it, and I find this very accelerating because I know how hard it is to search the literature.


Geoffrey Hinton says AI may already be developing emotions. “In terms of cognitive behavior, it could be just like us when it comes to emotions.” He collapses the line between real and simulated -- by defining feeling as learned behavior. If that's true, AI may already qualify as emotional.
