Just saw a Ryan Gosling interview where he says he liked the story of Project Hail Mary because it has the message that the future isn't something to be feared, it's something to be figured out. And that's a message he wants his kids to hear. Awesome.

E.g. from my Nativshark lesson today. Cook (chef) is written as コック in katakana, which sounds like 'cock' to an English ear. Whereasクック would actually sound like 'cook'.

Perhaps the critics would prefer a more unassuming, demure leader, more befitting of the female stereotypes of Japanese women that they have been complaining about for decades?
