It’s truly remarkable what our team accomplished this year. We grew every day on and off the court, we were resilient through the highs and the lows, and I am so proud of them! Thankful for a season I will never forget 🩵

Tom Izzo said, "A player-coached team is better than a coach-coached team." The best teams are player-led. • They lead by example. • They hold everyone accountable. • They set the standard and embody the standard. Player-led teams outperform coach-led teams because they lead the process, own the process, and hold themselves accountable. They enable, build, and sustain the culture. 4 Ways to Implement Player-Led Leadership: 1. Model How to Lead - Model the behavior that you want to see in your team. Lead by example, avoid blaming others, and take responsibility for successes and failures. People will look to your actions and behaviors more than any words you say. By doing this, you are building a culture of leadership, accountability, and respect. 2. Set Expectations for Leadership and Goals - Clearly articulate goals, strategies, and expectations. Communicate where you expect people to lead. This avoids ambiguity and reminds the team what is important and why. By doing this, you are effectively communicating what you expect, increasing transparency, and improving alignment. 3. Encourage Ownership and Hold People Accountable - The heart of success and leadership is ownership. Delegate where they need to lead. Give your people the authority and resources they need to make decisions and own the process. Then hold them accountable throughout the process. By doing this, you are empowering your team to take initiative, make decisions with confidence, and develop a sense of responsibility for their contributions. 4. Encourage Their Continuous Improvement - Emphasize improvement and growth in the culture. Set time aside to gather feedback on where the team can improve. Encourage everyone to make suggestions and take responsibility of the process. This will improve engagement and create a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and open communication. You're making a more adaptable team in the process. Great teams win because they have multiple leaders driving success together. Leadership is an uphill battle. - - - Follow @coachajkings for more posts like this!
