After today's rain, we get a break. Let's be honest, long overdue. Been a rainy NOV so a pattern of drier conditions makes sense. So when is our next possible rain? The GFS and GEM say NOV 29th. The EC-AI says I don't think so. I'd lean towards the GFS/GEM for now.

Frustrating night fighting the clouds at Tahoe, but stoked to at least get a few shots during a very brief clearing. Always nice to see the northern lights at lower latitudes!

Snow showers. High near 34. Windy, with SW winds around 30 mph, with gusts as high as 50 mph. The chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 3-5 inches is possible.

@palisadesops At 9am we were told upper mountain would be closed all day so we headed back home. And of course we’ve skied up there in far poorer conditions than this. Crap communication and the waste of a day.

It's cold and beautiful morning as the storms have finally cleared! The snow is deeeep. We will have mostly sunny skies for Tuesday with highs into the 20s. View from Homewood this morning. 😍

Worth noting that this outcome will be significant departure from long range ensemble predictions from early Dec. Such models really struggled to predict hemispheric effects of extreme Arctic blocking, so (as earlier noted) predictions have wobbled dramatically in recent days.

Now appears that, despite earlier indications, CA will enter an active storm cycle beginning in 3-4 days and probably lasting 10+ days. This pattern shift could bring multiple significant (but warm) storms--bringing lots of NorCal rain but also high freezing lines. #CAwx #CAwater
