Following the launch of COTI V2, CoinMarketCap has updated the token’s maximum supply to reflect the inflation schedule outlined in the whitepaper. COTI V2 introduces a continuous token issuance model, governed by a fixed and gradually diminishing inflation rate. The protocol’s maximum supply cap — which includes the original 2 billion tokens — represents the absolute ceiling of tokens that can ever be minted. However, the actual circulating supply is expected to remain significantly lower. This is due to transaction fees collected in COTI V2, which will be routed to a community-governed Treasury. These funds can be redistributed as rewards, used for ecosystem development, or burned, potentially leading to a deflationary effect over time. These mechanisms highlight the protocol’s adaptability and sustainability in the long run. We’d also like to emphasize that 58% of all newly minted tokens are allocated to the community, including stakers, node operators, and other network participants. Upon mainnet launch, 100% of the token supply will be held by existing holders, ensuring that the early community captures the majority of inflation benefits and is well-positioned to participate in network growth.
