It's official: we've got a date for the paraprofessional RESPECT check bill hearing! On Monday, March 9, the City Council Committee on Civil Service and Labor will hear arguments on our bill. The work we have put in together advocating for this bill is paying off 🙌 Once the hearing happens, the next step will be getting a vote from the full City Council to pass it into law. We have 21 Council Members signed on already. You can read the full legislation and keep track of who is signed on here: on.nyc.gov/4kWYsVw Reach out to your council member and let's keep this moving. We won't stop until it's passed!

.@DOEChancellor says he's "tired" of the debate about segregation in specialized high schools. "It’s not a place and space that the mayor and I decided we wanted to lean into. That is why we have tried to build out other new, academically rigorous programs."
LOVE THIS: @UFT members have an opportunity to connect with like-minded colleagues on a deeper level thanks to the reinvigoration of the union's 28 professional committees & a new enrollment process that makes it easier to get involved. #UnionProuduft.org/news/news-stor…
”Last night, while waiting to board our plane, our daughter Carter was being her usual inquisitive self wanting to meet and say “hi” to everyone she could, until she walked up on this man.
He reached out and asked if she wanted to sit with him.
He pulled out his tablet and showed her how to draw with it, they watched cartoons together, and she offered him snacks.
This wasn’t a short little exchange, this was 45 minutes.
Watching them in that moment, I couldn’t help but think, different genders, different races, different generations, and the best of friends.
This is the world I want for her.
In a country that is so deeply divided by beliefs, I want her life to be filled with moments like this... not liberal or conservative republican or democrat, socialist or capitalist, just HUMAN.
Joseph from Samsungus in Oklahoma, if this should happen to find you.
Thank you for showing my daughter what kindness and compassion looks like.
Continue to shine your light in the world.”

The proposal to co-locate Success Academy charter schools received "intense pushback" from families in the existing community schools.
nydailynews.com/new-york/educa…
Thanks again @NYCMayor@DOEChancellor & all the elected officials who for once considered the voices of communities impacted by these co-locations. But wait... @MoskowitzEva Aren't you one of them politicians you're trying to lambast? Just so we all know who we’re dealing with...
Students, parents and community members at the Richard R. Green Campus in the Bronx brought their ☂️ and their 📢 to rally against the proposed co-location of a Success Academy charter school with two existing district schools.
