@NYCMayor I don’t understand why having Mayoral Control is necessary to launch universal child care or reducing class sizes when the vast majority of parents already want both. “Control” is needed when something is unpopular and the goal is to bypass the consent of the people.

@leoniehaimson @456trainMama @ChalkbeatNY Parents put their children in private schools for many reasons. One being that classrooms are overcrowded. They do what they feel is best for their children. I won’t fault them for that. I find it admirable that you CHOOSE to fight alongside us for NYCPS to do right by our kids.

Here I said I'd oppose either additional state funding for NYC class size reduction or extended timeline for compliance w/o a clear, detailed multi-year plan showing how the $ would be used to achieve mandated caps. But @ChalkbeatNY left out the reason. chalkbeat.org/newyork/2026/0…

@DOEChancellor using the word “believe” suggests this is all in our heads or that we’re somehow overreacting. May I suggest using the word “know” instead? Over 4 centuries of overt anti-Black racism makes this word substitution appropriate and necessary.

Thank you Councilmember. I agree that the anti-Black comments made at the February 10 meeting of CEC3 are outrageous and have no place anywhere, especially civic discourse. It is particularly despicable that these vile words were uttered while children were giving testimony at the meeting, exposing them to this hatred. I’m grateful that Superintendent Higgins swiftly responded to this matter and appreciate the steps he’s proposed to address it.

I am outraged by the racist remarks recently made at a CEC 3 meeting regarding Black students at @NYCSchools . This rhetoric is unacceptable and I am calling for swift action to ensure thorough accountability.

For me, the moment reminded me how many times I said to myself, “If I only knew then what I know now” and wished I could go back and tell my younger self, “you made it”… It’s messed up that a @NYCSchools #PEP member would describe it with that particular word, given its history

This is a trap to make not having an education acceptable. Especially at a time when we need teachers, doctors, lawyers, and other professionally trained people. Don't fall for it.
