The public trust in the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) is based on the following key factors:
➡️ 1. Comprehensive security
The RDF has played a major role in preventing and combating armed groups, ensuring lasting peace and security for the population.
➡️ 2. Good conduct and respect for civilians
The RDF is known for its discipline, good behavior, non-interference in civilians’ private lives, and respect for the population.
➡️ 3. Contribution to national development
The RDF actively participates in building roads, health centers, schools, and providing humanitarian assistance during natural disasters.
➡️ 4. Professionalism and good leadership
Continuous training, strong discipline, and effective leadership have strengthened public confidence in the force.
➡️ 5. Positive representation of Rwanda abroad
Through its participation in UN peacekeeping missions, the RDF represents Rwanda with professionalism, earning national pride.
➡️ 6. Shared history with the population
The RDF emerged from the struggle to liberate the country and stop the Genocide, and is therefore regarded as a people’s army.
👉 In summary, public trust is grounded in the security people experience, the conduct of the RDF, and its direct contribution to citizens’ daily lives.

DRC conflict: Washington talks peace, EU funds war
At the climax of American- and Qatari- efforts in brokering Washington and Doha peace agreements that aim at de-escalating tensions between the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Rwanda, as well as between DRC and AFC/M23 rebels, respectively, the European Union (EU) announced new military funding to the Congolese army coalition.
On November 24, the EU Council adopted a new set of assistance measures valued at €10 million in support of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC). Presented as part of its security sector support, the package is nonetheless widely interpreted by security observers as direct reinforcement of FARDC’s war-fighting capabilities at a fragile moment in the peace process.
The decision under the European Peace Facility (EPF) has raised serious concerns about the EU’s intentions, as it comes amid FARDC’s continued military support to FDLR, a terrorist group founded by perpetrators of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. This genocidal militia and Wazalendo militia coalition are Kinshasa’s auxiliary forces against AFC/M23 rebels, as documented by the UN Group of Experts on DRC in their 2024 and 2025 reports.

Le régime Tshisekedi excelle dans l’art de déplacer les responsabilités. Toujours un accord, toujours un ennemi imaginaire, jamais d’autocritique. La vérité est simple : les engagements de Doha ont été violés par Kinshasa, pas par ceux qui ont respecté leur parole. On ne construit pas la paix avec des mensonges et des discours creux. #Tshisekedi préfère la propagande à la cohérence politique. Il réclame des arrêts, des concessions, mais refuse d’assumer ses propres signatures. C’est une fuite en avant dangereuse pour le pays.

#RDC: Déçus par la nouvelle dégradation de la situation sécuritaire dans l’est de la République démocratique du Congo, les États-Unis accusent directement le Rwanda d’être responsable de cette déstabilisation et promettent des mesures fermes, affirmant qu’ils « utiliseront tous les outils à leur disposition pour tenir responsables les auteurs de ces actes ». Washington exige le retrait immédiat des forces rwandaises du territoire congolais et reproche à Kigali d’avoir planifié et exécuté la guerre en donnant des instructions militaires et politiques au mouvement AFC/M23, tout en lui fournissant un appui logistique massif, du matériel, de la formation, entre 5 000 et 7 000 soldats, des missiles sol-air et des armes sophistiquées. Tout au long de la journée du vendredi 12 décembre 2025 et depuis les premières heures de ce samedi 13 décembre 2025, les forces coalisées du régime de Kinshasa, avec la participation directe et active de l’armée burundaise, mettent en œuvre une campagne d’extermination préméditée, systématique et ciblée contre la population civile tutsi banyamulenge.
Des avions de chasse Sukhoï-25, des hélicoptères de combat et des drones militaires, opérant depuis le territoire de la République du Burundi, ont mené des attaques aériennes indiscriminées contre les villages banyamulenge densément peuplés de Mikenke et Rwesankuku, en violation flagrante des principes fondamentaux du droit international humanitaire.
Ces frappes visent délibérément des civils sans défense, causant la mort de femmes et des enfants, et s’inscrivent dans une politique concertée de terreur, de destruction et de déplacement forcé d’une population identifiée sur base de son appartenance ethnique. De tels actes sont des crimes de guerre et crimes contre l’humanité.
