Practically imperfect. No apologies for profanity, it’s usually warranted. Aviation by profession.

Never normally do this but I’d advise anyone to steer clear of @Fantastic cleaners. We’ve had a cleaner since Sharon was pregnant to help out a bit. Their cleaners leave early, last week after only 20 mins as seen on the doorbell footage then refuse to refund and argue the toss.

All the hate Boomers & Gen X are currently copping for having the audacity to have paid tax & NI for years, saved for the future and dare to own homes in areas they enjoy living in. Seemingly we should all give it up for the younger generations who are terribly hard done by 🤷🏻‍♀️

In 1991 35% of 16-24 year olds had a mortgage and bought their own home. Today it’s 1%. And absolutely nothing is being done to fix this.

@lukerobertblack @Stewart09322559 But it seems it’s ok to say Boomers & Gen X should sell up & move to cheaper areas away from family & friends so they don’t have the need to claim a state pension.

@Stewart09322559 So this theoretical graduate (whose parents live in Torquay) should move to a region of the UK that’s even further away?

POV: You are 22. You’ve graduated from Exeter Uni and have a grad job at NatWest in Liv Street. Your parents live in Torquay. You rent a room in a flat share with 5 randoms. If you scrap your premium Netflix, you will save £18.99 a month. Good luck saving for a deposit.

Today we are lifting 450,000 children out of poverty with the end of the two-child limit.  This Labour Government is achieving the biggest reduction in child poverty over a Parliament since records began.  Change promised. Change delivered.

@rosie_eats You (& she presumably) also get almost 29% tax payer funded pension contributions vs an average private sector employer contribution of 5%.

My only response to boomer housing discourse is that my nan on her final salary teachers pension gets the same monthly income I get as a teacher on the inner London pay scale

@LBC We had no youth hubs when I was a teenager. We did hang around in gangs in the park & streets. We did not carry knives or steal or threaten old ladies (or anyone). My parents set boundaries for where I could go & when. I abided by them otherwise I would have been punished.

@karol You need better friends. I know not one European who would have found that confusing or pointless.

After 9/11 I had European friends confused that we would spend time, money and effort digging up the bodies at Ground Zero. What's the point, they said. But it's what Americans (and, ahem, Israelis) do. We love life, we care about our dead, and we don't leave anyone behind.

@PatrickChristys What do you think 3 or 4 officers can do with regards a mob of goodness knows how many, possibly with knives or other weapons, who are intent on thuggery? Really c’mon.

@ayeshaijazkhan If it’s so great in Iran, why do they choose to live in the UK?

So I was at a cafe in central London today and at a table right behind me were 3 Iranian women. I could hear them conversing in Farsi. Somehow we got up to leave at the same time, and they asked me if I was from Iran. I told them that I was from Pakistan. One said, “Pakistani people are so nice.” I asked them if everything was ok with their families in Iran, and they said, no - the bombing is incessant. We all cursed Netanyahu together and I told them Iran was putting up an impressive fight. They said they were proud of their country. It was a touching moment of solidarity among complete strangers. Specially since at first I thought they may be part of the Pahlavi diaspora. But they were actually genuine Iranians abroad, concerned for their country and family.

I have some good news. Something lovely happened today. I became a Grandad for the first time to my beautiful Granddaughter Sophia Rose. Both my daughter and baby Sophia are doing well and to say I’m chuffed is an understatement. ☺️

Ah yes - Sandy. A young and aspirational graduate, say, with a job at the Barclays in Canary Wharf, should definitely move a 3-hour commute away from London - to a place where they have no friends, no family and no support network.

You can buy a nice little house like this in Suffolk with a 5% deposit of £6,000. Nationwide, Barclays and others are offering good deals for first time buyers with only a 5% deposit. But then you'd have to forego your gap year in the Far East and Antipodes or your fancy wedding. Poor you. Boo hoo. 🤣

@al32302 @Variety It’s disappointing that a woman would come forward making up allegations of abuse. It helps no-one.

@linmeitalks Can I ask why this generation make such poor decisions? Money spent on pointless degrees, money you don’t have frittered away on traveling & buying newest tech. Wanting 4 bed detached “starter homes”. Thinking others should pay for your children. Rethink your expectations.

Can I ask why, if a pensioner has worked all their life, they only have the state pension to rely on? Didn’t decide to save ? Put away for a rainy day ? Sounds like poor planning to me. And yes if your children have flown the nest and you, or you and your spouse are knocking around in a 3 or 4 bedroom house you bought decades ago- SELL it. You’ll have more than enough to live on.

Not to mention , most were defined benefit pensions. This generation and next would never get a state pension of they die before 70-75. Mark my words. And the defined contributory pension means they will be poor unless they put a lot more than 15% ( personal plus employer) . The way stock markets are being manipulated by US powers, the pension pot would never rise the way you think. 400k would mostly get you to 700k in 20 years.and of ofcourse there is AI taking away the junior level jobs that uni grads would have normally gotten into. Things dont look rosy for us and our children
