@dougiebrimson How about the government lower taxes and teach kids how to invest?
English

As the recipient of a state pension, could I thank all those still working (including myself) for collectively paying their taxes to fund it.
Just as I did for your parents and/grandparents during my lengthy, and ongoing, working life. Something I did on the understanding that the system would continue to function, as it does.
That’s how it works. 👍

Labour plans to allow 12,000 prolific shoplifters avoid jail
Virtually every shoplifter avoiding jail will unleash a tsunami of theft
We need jail for prolific thieves, hotspot policing with 10,000 extra officers and more Stop & Search. That’s our plan telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/04/0…

@TeagueRoger I suppose there is a shortage of doctors partly because of things like uni loans and high taxation. I wonder if the government would be as well to look at that too as a way of retaining skilled public sector staff?
English

@DroptheAlpha In some cases.
Take doctors, they get over 20% employer contributions to their pensions which are guaranteed. It's why so many doctors retire early at 55yrs because they hit the life-time allowance and we've a shortage of doctors.
But a refuge collector deserves both.
English

I'd seriously look at the gold plated defined benefit schemes paid to public sector employees at a cost of £5.1Bn a year with a total liability for unfunded public sector pensions at roughly £1.3..£1.5 trillion.
Remember, that's on top of getting the State Pension!

Government pensions are a scam. Younger workers are paying more and more to fund a system that is mathematically impossible to sustain. Would you scrap the triple lock?
English

@JoeySalads You don’t need our help. You had this war won weeks ago right?
English

Sacking Cowley will solve things won’t it 🤣🤦🏻♂️ Who you going to go appoint who’s gonna want a job with no money, no staff, over half the squad out of contract … Don’t even say JM he ain’t leaving a cushty job at Ipswich. Until we are taken over nothing can change #Colu
English

@ladyC1900 You could become a nurse, police officer, teacher, prison officer etc and join the party. You’ll love the 16hr days, restrictions on your private life, shifts, scraping dead bodies off the road and working every Xmas👍
English

@mattyhudson Squad also appeared unsettled after the Lisbie transfer saga in January.
English

…dugout and they need to be backed in the summer.
An early completion of any takeover gives us a chance to retain the core and build a bit more depth to make us less susceptible to any injuries.
The longer it takes to do that deal, the more turnover we can expect!
#ColU
English

The summer debrief can start early.
For a second season, we’ve been undone by too many injuries to the big players in the squad. Unlucky or something else behind it? When your squad is slim, that hurts you more and we’ve just run out of gas.
It’s the right duo in the #ColU…

@leonard_bayard @McFaul Your Head of State has sex with children, be quiet.
English

@McFaul First off, if we did it would of ended faster and secondly the hapless Brits wouldn't have lost 2 destroyers and a frigate!

English

@LoftusSteve What was the £480 a month for then that I paid into my DB pension, for 24 years?
I’d suggest researching the subject matter which you clearly have absolutely zero knowledge of.
Sadly you have come across as a bitter and clueless imbecile, which I’m sure wasn’t your intention.
English

@polarbear1066 They don't pay for their bloody pension. Nobody paid in for anything other than roads, schools, defense, NHS, etc
English

@InspGadgetBlogs Not forgetting the Essex DCI who burst into tears at a missing person briefing on tv a few weeks ago.
English

@SandraW70403194 They never gave Liza Tarbuck a decent slot which was a shame.
English

#BbcRadio2 Zoe Ball was a huge mistake, Scott Mills has clearly failed so can we now give The Breakfast Show to Sara Cox, 2nd choice Vernon Kay, 3rd bring Chris Moyles back
English

Cowley out. Idc about injuries everyone has them. 14th in the table… #colu

@AWilsonmhealth Canteens scrapped due to the screaming banshees at HQ who by the way can often be found at said HQ….in the canteen!
English

#Police of today
Inexperienced. Start work. Huge workloads. Single crewed. No breaks. Traumatic incidents. No canteen. Isolated.

@SharePickers My question around solar is if I look solely through the financial lens, wouldn’t it just be better to invest that capital amount. Eg the returns would be greater than the electricity savings?
English

Two weeks ago we had solar panels and a battery fitted. We have just completed our first full week with the system.
Our electric bill for the week commencing 10th March 2026 compared to the same week last year has dropped by 71% from £31.71 to £9.05.
We also have not received our DNO cert yet which would allow us to sell back into the grid. On sunny days our battery has been full by 11:30am meaning we don’t yet benefit from the excess free energy being produced.
We are now going to buy an electric car and fill it with free energy.
If only all of the UK could do this, it would go along way to reducing the countries high energy costs.

English

@Matt_Baldwin97 No thanks, we’d end up with Joe Dunne again. That would be certain relegation next season.
English

@TimPres09709070 @GOPIsrael A new level of stupidity from another US clown🤡
English

@GOPIsrael American here...actually, yeah, Argentina is a far better partner than the UK lately.
English

Argentina is sending naval units to assist the U.S. in safeguarding international shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. The UK has refused. In 1982 President Reagan came to the aid of then PM Margaret Thatcher who was defending the UK colony in the Falkland Islands, claimed by Argentina which refers to them as the Malvinas Islands. In light of the UK’s cowardly refusal to support the US in the Persian Gulf conflict, I think it only appropriate for the Trump Administration to consider reversing US policy on the Falklands and support the Argentinian claim.
