@rileycurnow Insurance companies are not in a hurry to keep insuring grain growers . Significant upside in costs on the way , especially perhaps for standing canola . MRLs could become more of an issue too . Loathe to give advice , but a bit of both in esperance isn’t a bad idea .

Reflecting on swathing our Canola as we are going to Tin fronts next year. Theres a lot of money tied up in the swather, pickup fronts and potential yield loss from swathing too early. What’s everyone’s thoughts?

So I done a full lap of the Peninsula today and managed to run an Allen key and use a heap of loctite on (almost) every machine. Only found a couple loose ones but it always better to play it safe. When they come back for a service we will upgrade them as needed.

Wheat spread followed by incorporation by light cultivation (too wet to sow properly) is giving us micro-raised beds. Might be something we do again in future when rain is forecast post-sowing to get seed onto higher ground

Still seeding. 2100 ha has taken 3 months . Although the first 1750 went allright ! Spreader putting seed out , and bar going over it with some fert , and trying to throw seed up on top of furrow . Aah , it’s a joy at times
