@steve_noa @IanThom186000 Perfect wool is our crossbred 32 micron. Even then might not be coarse enough cf those weird hebridean sheep.
English

When everything else is going bad......the wool market rebounds in a spectacular way. Go figure.....
China found its hunger over the weekend, chasing all available wool. Why? We're not aware of any new uniform orders🫣 but something triggered business.
Could it be new uniform orders for electric car salespeople 😉. Anyways, it's great news heading into Easter, along with widespread rain, which, of course, is one of the vital ingredients in producing wool.

I’m sure it’s a nasty illness but they should give it a less silly name. Maybe use a bit of Latin or something.

@unabletoconnec5 @theoztrucker No, we all pay upfront & claim back the excise for off road use. The cashflow problem is as @theoztrucker describes. Distribution of the "supply" & lack of confidence in the future supply lines has fed into the cost crisis.
English

@theoztrucker And it doesn’t even help primary industries such as farming and mining as they don’t pay excise on off road diesel to begin with
English

So here’s my take on the fuel excise reduction and the heavy vehicle Road User Charge suspension for three months.
It’s a sugar hit. That’s it. We’ve kicked the can down the road.
The price of diesel right now where I am is $3.25 with the RUC removed and the excise halved this will bring the price down by about 58 cents for the trucking industry. 26 cents a litre for the general public.
This looks great until you understand the ramifications. Yes businesses will get a short term benefit when they pay at the pump (whatever that is) they still need to claim back the RUC adjustment and Diesel Fuel Rebate in their BAS. With some companies having customers who are on up to 1 month plus 30 days or even longer they have to survive to get there. Cash flow is king. Some simply won’t make it.
Fuel prices have gone up by more than the relative relief plan and may continue to go up. This plan has not solved the supply issue or secured any form of stability from external pressure. Some trucking businesses have had their margin wiped out even with the announcement.
Reducing the price of fuel for everyone through the excise cut is nice for the general public but it is going to affect road transport in their BAS down the track. GST and Diesel Fuel Rebate is used to offset inputs, other GST collected and expenses incurred. In short this is going to create a future gap that may be difficult for some.
What happens when we get 3 months down the track and it’s all still a mess?
It’s a Band-Aid on a bullet wound and worse than that it really could drive up demand for fuel.
And just a final thought. We pay over 31 billion in vehicle related taxes each year. This little sugar hit returns about 2.55 billion to us all while the cost of everything else is going up.

@Doctor_650 We have a popn dominated by urbanites, power, water & food is available 24/7. No connection to how things work or don't & vague about biological systems. Leads to risk averse regs & cost shifting with no understanding of trade offs, so prodn moves offshore.
English

@6056_peter The CHO is in charge of public health, burden of disease, vax & in early days clean water & sanitation were focus. Lifestyle choices such as booze & fags should be lower order when we have health burdens in some areas directly related to hygiene or living conditions.
English

@MarieODea3 Considering women are having babies on the side of the road, maybe the lack of Doctors, Nurses and Hospital beds is a bigger problem than vaping?
English

@Hugamugarr @AmberB_C @stationmum101 Especially if like the PM you don't provide access to the electorate office because of protesters outside the door for months on end.
English

@AmberB_C @stationmum101 It's been way too long since the last expansion of the parliament (42 years), even in cities people have half the vote value they did in 1984. While this problem is felt more acutely in large remote electorates, it impacts everyone.
English

I don't care what it's called - they need to make it smaller.

@AmberB_C @stationmum101 Durack is almost twice the size of NSW. The diversity of industry, communities and the tyranny of distance make it near impossible to represent.
English

@stationmum101 They watched the disaster of WA state election & learnt nothing. It isn't like they only had 5 weeks notice of the date like a Fed election. Venues & schedule for remote polling should be in place 2 months ahead, with caveat weather conditions permitting.
English

The ongoing exclusion of remote SA residents from democratic institutions that urban areas take for granted is a clear indication that we are not even considered- let alone valued by any SA government.

@ShackelWill They are busy unwinding all sorts of other dodgy deals.

Over $2.5 million in taxpayer funds has gone to a lobby group that was responsible for disinformation about nuclear in the lead up to the last election.
The 'Smart' Energy Council, that trades as the Australian Solar Energy Society, is a registered charity with tax deductibility.
It was responsible for lies that nuclear would cost $600bn and be 4% of the grid.
This is an absolute scandal. When will they be held accountable?

English

@Mistadamage @HallRaelene Fuel for farmers & food. My brain is searching for other pithy lines linking Dallas, diesel & a girl named Debbie, but you can't say fucked on ABC TV News breakfast.
English

I'm on ABC TV News Breakfast 5:15 in the morning Friday, talking about fuel.
Here's your challenge: can you give me a maximum 5 word cracking line, good enough to make it into the evening news? #askX
English

@ginofarms @theoztrucker Tell me you are not familar with the geography of WA & our popn density with everyone clustered around Perth. We start calling towns, cities when they get past something like 20 000 people. We will stay with road transport until East West rail link is waterproof.
English

@MarieODea3 @theoztrucker Tell me you're not familiar with transport in Europe without telling me.
English

We never seem to let the truth get in the way of a good story. That is only a single trailer. Was the trailer loaded and what was the Gross weight? What is the Tare weight of the truck? How long does it have to sit on charge? What is the capital investment to purchase one of these? What is the cost of ownership? what is the programmed maintenance schedule? More to the point how available are they?
If you want to tell the story that's great. I've looked at and driven a Janus conversion. I've interviewed Lex several times. Ive seen your truck in Picton. I'd like to have a proper look at it. Contact info on my profile
Sydney EV 🔋☀️@sydney_ev
a Windrose #EV Truck, just competed a loaded B Double run from Sydney to Canberra non stop, no need to charge, 100% electric. total cost $50 approx. Diesel would have cost near $500 or more. We have solutions to our fuel crisis.. #auspol #trucking brisbanetimes.com.au/environment/cl…

@ginofarms @theoztrucker On that 750km trip your cousin goes through Munich & Nuremberg with a popn approx equal to Perth. Travel from Esperance (10 000 people) to Perth 700km will take you through the seat of Roe that has 18 000 other people in it. Electric trains?
English

@MarieODea3 @theoztrucker 😆 🤣. My cousin drives a truck carting flour from Palmonova to Frankfurt, goes through Switzerland. You can check how far!
English

@GBTSocScientist Now do Senator Thorpe & her attendance record.
English

@ginofarms @theoztrucker Check population density of Europe & the distance between Paris & Rome. Then compare with Australia.
English

@theoztrucker The market will decide what works and what doesn't. We have missed the boat with an efficient and affordable electric rail system. You see very few trucks on freeways in Europe. Goods are moved on rail, particularly refrigerated goods.
English

@toiletpaperaus1 As a Qld Senator she should be visiting the industry council that represents a reasonable % of the Qld economy.
English

@TomPlayford3 @toiletpaperaus1 The commentators don't realise the lure of the snacks on offer.
English

@toiletpaperaus1 This isn't going to matter to the vast majority of people who vote for her.
English

@GemmaTognini @GrayConnolly Can you bring back the essence of Giorgia Meloni & see if we can mainline it into the veins of some of our politicians on the opposition benches?
