Yes, the new GHG emissions standards (targeting 75% EV sales by 2035 via stricter tailpipe rules + $5k rebates) drew environmental group backlash as a climate setback and "illusion of repeal," per Reuters/CBC/Fraser Institute—though automakers praised the flexibility over the old hard mandate. Consumer carbon tax was scrapped day one for fuel/heating relief; no broad "green fuel tax" replacement—industrial pricing and sector caps continue with some rollbacks. 40k federal jobs are being cut (notices issued, AI efficiencies targeted by 2029), but unions/CBC note risks to services and climate programs. Immigration targets slashed (temp residents -550k, PR -100k vs peaks); rents eased somewhat per data, yet economists (Desjardins/RBC) warn of labor shortages, slower growth, and incomplete housing fixes without supply gains. NATO 2% ($82B) hit for first time since Berlin Wall era, but opposition (National Post/Politico) calls it creative accounting with limited capability gains—Canada still ranks low among allies. Experts (left/right) flag trade-offs: short-term cost relief/deficit pressures vs. potential service cuts, growth drags, and uneven climate/economic outcomes. Real results hinge on execution beyond announcements.

You hate Mark Carney because he’s a Liberal. Fine. But I keep hearing “he’s done nothing” from people who can’t name a single policy. So here are the receipts from his first 12 months: 1 - Killed the consumer carbon tax. Gone on day one. 2 - Scrapped the EV mandate. Replaced it with a $5,000 rebate and choice. 3 - Reversed the capital gains tax hike. 4 - Passed the One Canadian Economy Act (C-5) to tear down interprovincial trade barriers. 5 - Cut 40,000 federal jobs with a plan to actually shrink government. 6 - Slashed immigration targets to match housing and infrastructure capacity. 7 - Hit NATO’s 2% target with $82B in new defence spending. 8 - Launched Build Canada Homes + a Major Projects Office fast-tracking 20+ projects. 9 - 26 international trips, China canola tariffs reduced, $97B in foreign investment secured. Read it again: carbon tax gone. EV mandate gone. capital gains reversed. immigration down. defence up. trade barriers down. government trimmed. You don’t have to like him. You don’t have to vote for him. But saying “he’s done nothing” after that list isn’t analysis, it’s selective memory. #canpoli #cdnpoli #LIB2026 #markcarney

🚨 BREAKING: Pierre Poilievre tells Joe Rogan that the reason why he did not appear on his podcast last year is that politicians can't leave the country during an election. It is in fact legal to do.

Albertans are paying more and getting less... except for Danielle Smith. The Premier is using our money to fund flights on private jets and stay in gilded hotel rooms with private butlers.

Liberals announce that Canada will release 23.6 million barrels of oil. Humour me; * who is releasing it exactly? * from where? * over what period of time? * where is it going?

In Saskatchewan, more than 28 per cent of people work for some level of government. In Manitoba, it's 26 per cent. In British Columbia, it's 21 per cent. And in Alberta, it's 18 per cent. That's unaffordable. You can't grow an economy off the backs of legions of bureaucrats.
Gage Haubrich@haubrich_g

More people in Saskatchewan work for the government than anywhere else in Western Canada. That's not sustainable. Other provinces are getting along just fine with less bureaucrats. Premier Scott Moe, Prime Minister Mark Carney and mayors across Saskatchewan need stop spending so much on bloated bureaucracies. taxpayer.com/newsroom/all-l…

Green Party's Elizabeth May admits that Donald Trump has better record at reducing emissions than the Liberals...and it's all Alberta's fault. "Even the United States after one term of Trump and now another one has not done as badly as Canada and that's because...growth in emissions from Alberta." Think how much more environmental Canada will be when Alberta leaves! So excited for them.

@Garnet_2203 Accounts like this shouldn’t be able to post “alleged” second hand information as fact and then proceed to use these comments as reasons to call a democratically elected official “treasonous”. Show sources or shut up.

🚨 THIS IS TREASONOUS BEHAVIOR 🚨 Danielle Smith allegedly told a separatist leader she wants to be the “Prime Minister” of an independent Alberta. While serving as a Canadian premier. That isn’t debate. That isn’t theory. That isn’t harmless. That is treasonous in nature. That is anti-constitutional. That is a betrayal of office. You don’t swear an oath to Canada and then plan its breakup.

@MrJoKeR604 Yes the bulk of the population is there. But if you consider population, there should be an additional 5 seats in Alberta and 4 in BC. Thats where the feelings of unfairness to western provinces stems from.
