@levelsbirder I saw the Winspit Wallcreeper on 25 Feb 1970. I was at Bath University at the time and talked a friend who had a car into driving us there. There was nobody else there, just the two of us.

At least six Water Pipit on Staines Moor this morning, although photos ruined by the fog. I don't understand why I can't find this species in meadows along the River Wey in habitat that looks the same and is more extensive.

My Scilly trip has finished for another year. Highlights - Mourning Dove, Eyebrowed Thrush, American Pipit, Spotted Sandpiper, Wilson's Phal, Ortolan, Stone Curlew, Hoopoe, Rosefinch, Wryneck, Caspian Gull. Also saw the Steppe Grey Shrike yesterday at Mullion Cove on the way home

@sferguk A lot of my misspent youth was spent up on Staines Reservoir in the evenings. There were lots of us, it was quite a social gathering then and we used to get loads of fly over waders. I remember big flocks of Curlew and Whimbrel for instance.
