$SOFI Something very interesting happened just now. I spoke to a recruiter from SoFi and it was a very revealing conversation. Context: Some of you may know I currently work in one of the big whale Financial services firms on Wall Street. I was not necessarily looking for a career/job change, but Noto's tweet campaign peeked my interest. So out of sheer curiosity, I sent in my resume and entered my details earlier this week. A couple of days later, a recruiter from SoFi reached out to me asking if I would be interested to talk about a particular role. After reviewing the role details, I knew it may not necessarily be the perfect fit for a couple of reasons but I agreed to a preliminary phone chat regardless As a long term $SOFI investor, I am always trying to find nuggets of information that are not easily available elsewhere about the company. For example - I periodically apply for SoFi personal loans - even though I may not have a need for cash then - just to monitor their underwriting standards. And despite having a credit 800+ credit score, SoFi has actually rejected a couple of my past loan applications (I have had several other successful loans with them). As a SoFi client, it may not be the most warm and fuzzy feeling to be denied, but the investor in me was so elated to see SoFi's extremely strict credit standards. Back to today... I wanted to talk to the recruiter just to gather any information I can company about the company culture and values... And boy was I blown away! Very seldom do you get to see such an organic pride about the 'SoFi Way'. It is very obvious to me now Anthony Noto has built an incredible environment inside the company that has so many of their employees excited and proud to be there. And the recruiter was very acutely aware of the SoFi journey so far and had a great underdog ('We are her to fight and win') mindset, which was awesome to see. In my opinion, the single most important predictor of the long term success of an organization is internal culture. Noto has somehow managed to build and sustain one of the best in class cultural settings inside SoFi. This company is going to go places. I have no doubt about it.
