I am heartbroken by the tragic loss of an AEP Texas employee in Corpus Christi this morning. This is a devastating reminder of the risks so many take every day to keep our communities powered and running. Please join me in praying for the employee’s family, loved ones, and coworkers during this incredibly difficult time. We are lifting you up and standing with you in this moment of grief.

The inclusion of the Chase Field Industrial Airport Complex in the Texas Airport System Plan marks a significant step forward for aviation and economic development in South Texas. I am proud to have supported this effort and appreciate the strong partnership between local leaders, the Bee Development Authority, and TxDOT in making it possible. This designation positions Chase Field for future investment, job creation, and continued growth for Beeville and the surrounding region.

Today, on National Agriculture Day, we recognize the hardworking men and women who keep Texas, and America, fed and thriving. From our farmers and ranchers to producers and innovators, Texas agriculture is the backbone of our economy and a proud part of our heritage. Thank you for your tireless dedication to our great state.

Sen. Rehmet was well aware he wouldn’t be appointed to interim committees. Sen. Rehmet won a special election to fill out an unexpired interim term in 2026, in which no bills are filed, voted on, or passed. He has to win in November to serve a full term in the legislature. If he does win in November, he would be assigned committees like anyone else at the beginning of the next legislative session in January 2027. I explained that to him a month ago. He said he understood. Historically, Sen. Flores, Sen. Eckhardt, and Sen. Cook were not appointed to interim committees either following their special election victories in 2018, 2020, and 2024, respectively. The same will apply to Brett Ligon if he wins the Senate District 4 special election in May. Sen. Rehmet’s recent complaint is just a cheap shot to try to score political points for his election. #txlege

Today I attended the 2026 New Water for Texas luncheon in Aransas Pass, where local leaders and stakeholders came together to focus on the future of water in our region. Conversations centered on securing reliable, long term supply and the importance of planning ahead as our communities continue to grow. Water is one of the most pressing issues facing the Coastal Bend, and it is clear that strong coordination and regional efforts will be critical moving forward. I appreciate everyone working to advance real, lasting solutions for our region.

I am grateful to Lieutenant Governor @DanPatrick for his trust and faith in my ability to serve in this role. This responsibility is critical to the success of the State of Texas, and I am committed to conducting a fair and thorough review process to ensure that every appointment reflects the values and expectations of the people of Texas. I look forward to working alongside my colleagues to uphold the integrity of this process and to ensure that the people of Texas can have confidence in those appointed to serve.

My message is universal. As Comptroller, I’m going to root out fraud, waste and abuse. If someone is stealing taxpayer money, they are going to get to wear my campaign color and get free room and board.
