Can someone explain this to me like I'm 5 years old? Last month I paid off a credit card, no high balance at all. Two weeks ago I paid off another credit card, no high balance at all. These are the only two credit cards that I have. Why did my credit score drop dramatically?

@BowtiedCappy I have to question if boomers weren't eating out so much why are restaurants still in business and why did the industry grow by trillions over the last 50 years? That's what my brain struggles with.

Seeing a lot of food frugality discourse here. Which, I agree with - I cook most of my food, barely eat out. And I do think its absurd that Zoomies and Millenials drop so much money and DoorDash and shit. That said..... I'm having trouble squaring something. How do we reconcile out 90's parent food frugality (baloney sandwiches, eat out like 5 times year, not even McDonald's), with the fact it was so common as to be a media trope that Boomer/Silent Gen dads would go to the bar every day after work? And if they were bored on the weekend? AND smoke a pack a day? Is this one of those things where the prices just aren't comparable due to various forms of inflation and deflation? Like takeout food has decreased in real terms, while alchohol and smokes have exponentially gotten more expensive? Like today ,you would have to be RICH to be able to drink 5-10 beers a day after work at a bar and smoke a pack a day

Loaf of bread = $5 Peanut butter = $4 Jelly = $4 18 pack of chips = $12 Bag of apples = $5 Total = $30 And you'll have lunch for an entire week or two. $2-4 average per day. Inflation isn't the problem. Your spending habits are.

@DonutOperator I think the general public is under the impression that delicious food, at home, takes hours but if you stock your fridge well and understand the basics it's easy and fun! I made beef and broccoli with my own sauce and it took 30 minutes.

I see a couple comments saying “I don’t have time”. Throw some stuff in your slow cooker the night before or before your shift on low. Boom, delicious meal for 2 days at least.

People REALLY don’t like being told to cook their own food.
