@AnnGarrison @tesfanews Fully agree with Ann here; something tells me this could be a trap. Look how they are coming to sudan with the new Berlin peac plan where they included among others UAE and Ethiopia the butchers of sudan while Eritrea is dsidelined though it tried to save sudan.

Why on earth would you take the words of the US at face value, given everything it has done throughout the history of the US empire? Everything it's done in West Asia and the Horn for many decades? Everything its doing right now, trying to bomb Iran into submission and collaborating with Israel in the ongoing Palestinian Genocide and seizure of the Gaza Strip? After Abiy, Isaias, and Farmaajo signed the Tripartite Agreement in 2018, the US moved to undermine it and succeeded within just a few years.

@tesfanews We'll see but past data and factual history says otherwise. Considering Trumps avowed promise not to let america embroiled in foreign wars and his promise to focus on america first during his election and what he is doing, I do not trust American ridged foreign policy!

@JoeHungloRedux Simple solution; stop bringing unqualified Indians or restrict their registry licenses that give driving licenses for money; they don’t care about safety of the public. Majority of registry licenses are owned by them, sort of monopolistic.

@tesfanews Could you define that lost opportunity; in what capacity? As you know the US wants, look what trump has done to Venezuela’s. Eritrea from my understanding never said no, on the contrary Eritrea only asked for mutual benefit on equal footing relationship.

#BREAKING — Eritrea may have missed a key strategic opportunity during the years of George W. Bush. It’s worth recalling when Donald Rumsfeld visited and publicly (?) discussed the possibility of a base on the Dahlak Islands. Now, according to The Wall Street Journal, a new window may be opening under Donald Trump, and Eritrea should act on it.

@Safarnejad_IR Something is definitely going on. Even my region, #Ontario, #Canada, had a more 'normal' or what's expected, weather this year. This is the first year in a long time where nature was acting normal. This can't be a coincidence. How is everyone else's weather this year? #peace

@Sonofgihon @trad_west_ @Eliasyemariam Truth be told the bearers of the orthodox Christianity are current day Eritreans Tigrayans and Amhara who are the foundational Axumite empire where the present day Ethiopia is trying to wipe them out.

@trad_west_ @Eliasyemariam Ethiopians were Christians since 34 AD shortly after Philip baptized the Ethiopian eunuch. Check Acts of the Apostles, Chapter 8. The specific moment of the baptism is described in Acts 8:36–38 (KJV).

@trad_west_ All the books of old testament were already in Ethiopia. That is why the Ethiopian Eunuch was reading the book of Isaiah as you read it in Book of Acts. The first Ethiopian Christian was baptized even before st. Paul became a Christian. 330AD is for it to be state religion

Ethiopia is Free For nearly a century, Ethiopia was a pawn for outside powers—and now it’s being cast aside. In 1941, the British restored Haile Selassie to the throne, and the 1942 Anglo-Ethiopian Agreement effectively gave London control over the country’s finances and armed forces. Today’s patrons are unreliable and inward-looking, distracted by the Iran crisis. Even Ethiopia’s primary backer, the United Arab Emirates, is grappling with existential threats. So for the first time in roughly a hundred years, Ethiopia stands alone. And almost immediately, it’s backsliding into conditions reminiscent of the 19th century. The irony is stark. #Ethiopia #Geopolitics #HornOfAfrica #MiddleEast #IranCrisis #UAE #InternationalRelations #StateFragility #GlobalShift

Personally, I don’t «fully trust» either Tigray or Amhara (Ethiopias in general). However, the current threat facing all these three communities (ሰሜናውያን) from the incompetent Abiy Ahmed regime cannot be fully addressed without some level of cooperation and "trust", even if it’s not long-term. That's exactly why I'm with #Ximdo.

SUDAN — What began as a grassroots effort to build trust, peace, and cooperation among border communities in Eritrea, Tigray, and Afar through the local people-to-people initiative known as #Ximdo, which successfully fostered peace along the Eritrea–Tigray border, has now expanded to include the people of Amhara and Sudan. Community representatives from #Tigray, #Eritrea, and #Amhara recently held their first people-to-people meeting in the Sudanese town of Kassala. The gathering highlighted their shared commitment to peaceful coexistence as neighbors, while rejecting any attempts by the Abiy Ahmed government to maintain power by fueling divisions and conflict among these neighboring communities.

Wode Maya is surprised his phone did not get snatched in Eritrea when he was recording using his phone in his car. That is just scratching the surface. If that were to happen, the people in the street would act as a police and apprehend the perpetrator. There are stories after stories people will tell you that anyone outside of Eritrea will not believe. Personally, I left very expensive Camera Gear in a car in city center with the windows open for more than an hour and when I came back and realized the windows were open, I did not think the camera would be there. Alas, the car was untouched and I was so relieved and blown over by that incident. But then there are more stories like a waitress gave back a man who forgot a bag full of cash in a bar.... This is Eritrea! where women walk back home even in dark streets and no one will think of touching them. It does not mean there are not a rare occasions of crime in the cities, but they are rare. And what is more astonishing is, if you walk to the towns and villages in Eritrea, there is virtually No Police and no crime. You have to see it to believe it, because looking at the world today, no one will believe you.

Maybe. But why now? The Iranians have demonstrated a very strong grasp on the escalation ladder. I see nothing that would make them want to risk turning the sour US public opinion on this war into a more pro-war standing by launching terror strikes here in the US.

The Dahlak Kebir Island: A Secretive and Isolated Resort in Eritrea (EP) - Located on the western shore of Dahlak Kebir, the facility is exclusive and primarily for wealthy Qatari elites under a 99-year lease. This place is not accessible to the general public or most Eritreans. In 2007, Qatar Diar, Qatar’s state-owned real estate firm, contracted S.A. Miro, Inc., a U.S.-based company from Denver, Colorado, to conduct a site assessment and develop a master plan for a high-end resort complex estimated to cost over US$100 million. The plan envisioned multiple hotels, luxury villas, bungalows, desalination plants, sewage systems, and supporting infrastructure like roads and utilities, potentially expanding to other islands in the archipelago to attract European and Gulf tourists. This Western involvement project predated UN sanctions on Eritrea and was part of broader efforts to develop the pristine Red Sea coastline. However, the project faced challenges, including the island’s remoteness and logistical issues. By 2008, S.A. Miro’s role had ended, and construction shifted to a joint venture between Qatar Diar and VINCI Construction, a French multinational company, which resumed work in 2009 after a brief halt due to labour disputes. The first phase, including 48 bungalows, villas, pools, a helipad, roads, electrical grids, and desalination facilities, was completed in late 2012 at a cost of around US$48 million. A second phase was planned by 2013, aiming for a total of US$115 million, including an international airport, industrial port, additional luxury resorts and hotels with 1,980 rooms, 207 km of roadways, and supporting infrastructure for a planned population of over 10,000. However, phase two never materialized. Eritrea closed the Qatari embassy in Asmara and expelled Qatari diplomats. The relationship between Eritrea and Qatar, which had been relatively warm and cooperative in the early 2000s, started to decline, and by 2017, it had deteriorated significantly amid broader regional geopolitical tensions. The primary catalyst was allegedly Qatar’s support for Islamist groups and opposition factions that Eritrea viewed as threats to its stability, including reported backing of the Eritrean Islamic Jihad and other dissident movements aimed at undermining President Isaias Afwerki’s regime. This aligned with Eritrea’s decision to join the Saudi-led coalition against Qatar during the 2017 Gulf diplomatic crisis, where Qatar faced a blockade from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, and Egypt over accusations of funding terrorism and meddling in regional affairs. Eritrea, seeking to strengthen ties with the anti-Qatar bloc, severed diplomatic relations, closed the Qatari embassy in Asmara, and expelled Qatari diplomats and military personnel who had been stationed there since 2015. Returning to the resort, the existing facilities remain “secretly” operational but highly exclusive, primarily serving Qatari elites under a reported 99-year lease and inaccessible to the general public, including most Eritreans, as noted in recent discussions and travel guides that describe “ongoing” but limited “resort construction” without specifics on expansion. #Eritrea #Qatar #Dahlak #resort
