It takes an insane man to play like this for 4 years, lose the ballon d’or for 4 years straight, not complain even once, get to work and show up better the next year. His greatest legacy is him not breaking down mentally between 2009 - 2012. That’s why some people are willing to die for him. The mentality is different.

Because in this particular case the view is skewed due to proximity & recency bias as Rodri is in the PL and Busquets’ peak was 10-15 years ago. People still haven’t realised that Busquets was the heart of Pep’s Barcelona dynasty. He brought him up with him from Barca B & was happy to cash in on Yaya Toure due to the emergence of some kid nobody knew about; to then spent his managerial career trying to replace his exact profile at both Bayern (Javi Martinez/Lahm/Xabi Alonso) & City (tried to sign Jorginho before signing Rodri). Rodri was even pushed to CB when Busquets was in his twilight years for the national team. It’s not nostalgia, those that actually watched Busquets know he was a once in a generation player.
