@DrBradJohnson If the culture is totally broken, is there ever hope that it can be fixed? 👀

@JackieKayPoet I’ve been annotating your poem “Darling, and it really moved me. I’d love to DM you a few quick questions if you’re open to it — I care so much about the my students, and I know your words would mean a lot to them.
Thank you for such a beautiful piece 🏆🏆🏆

My lovely students, and classroom, have become my comfort/safe zone, but I no longer feel challenged. Is it wise to avoid becoming complacent in one school? Why do some teachers stay in the same school for yearSSS? Doesn’t that limit one’s growth?
English

@TTWAR62 @sofiaahmed1 Belive me, your smile will go a lonnnnng way!
I work as a teacher and one of my students emailed me to say “Ms, I saw what’s happening on the news. Are you ok”. Genuinely, cried at their thoughtfulness. The smallest acts of kindness are usually the ones that mean the most 😊😊
English

@sofiaahmed1 That's beautiful 😍
When I take my dog on his daily walk and pass someone who I think has been affected by the disorder I try to make eye contact with them, give a smile, say hello. Nothing in the grand scheme of things but I like to think those people know I'm on their side.

@DrNeenaJha 💙💚💜
My granda was the same. Would ask my nan to cook extra food, daily, so they can feed homeless folk. My parents followed their footsteps…& now we do too…& we’ll pass this tradition on etc
Yet, here we are today. Second class citizens cause of skin colour. Very upsetting.

I’d like to talk about my Dad.
He came to England from India at age 17.
He had a brutal childhood- he’s refused to talk us kids about it but part of his childhood involved living on the streets as a child in India
Coming to England saved his life. Literally.
He has worked - shop keeper, then taxi driver & has contributed to tax his whole life here. He refused to charge people for his taxi service when they visited hospitals, students who felt unsafe walking at night etc. He worked 7 days a week, and we lived month to month.
My Mum, at the age of 64, still works full
time as an insurance broker & has also paid tax her entire working life.
My Dad retired at the age of 70 during the pandemic as he was diagnosed with cancer. Thankfully he’s currently in remission 🙏
As soon as he was given the “all clear” he could finally pursue his dream - to feed those in need.
At the age of 70 he asked my Mum to teach him how to cook.
Every Tuesday he buys food to feed about 100/200 homeless people a week. He wakes up at 3am every Wednesday to cook the food, package & distribute it with a team of volunteers who also provide them warm clothing, cut their hair etc with nothing but love.
The volunteers are from all backgrounds, all colours, all ethnicities as are the people they serve.
He is the kindest, most compassionate person I know. To have people judge him based on the colour of his skin breaks my heart beyond measure.

@bilal_labour I’ve honestly started loosing faith in humanity 😭 Folk just don’t get how difficult it is being a person of colour. 😭
Educational thread, for those who care to listen!

Unbeknownst to me, my S1s decided to play a “Ms Albashir bingo game” with the words I (allegedly) overuse. It made me laugh and got me thinking: What words do teachers use a lot in their classes? The green =talkers in my class, and nothing inappropriate 😂.@MrTs_NQTs #edutwitter

@RiversTsa I also recommend Jamie Thom’s podcast “Beyond survival: the new teacher podcast”. Different guests every week made for some very enlightening conversations. Give it a wee listen!

If you are a teacher or trainee do you have any other recommendations? Please share them in the comments.

Trying to up my “tech” game this term. Any recommendations for useful websites/softwares? I only know of @nearpod and I’m sure there must be more for me to discover and utilise. Thannnnnnk you 😊 @MrTs_NQTs #edutwitter

@RogersHistory You too 🤦🏽♀️ I’ll use a school analogy.
Police are called as there is a “school shooter” in the building. Surely the LAST thing they should do is bomb the whole school with all the innocent wee kids inside. That’s what the Israeli government is doing atm. Ceasefire…negotiate!
English

@MyriamFrancoisC @georgegalloway This is the only way to describe what many of us have felt these past 21 days …full of “qaher”.

@AlaHamdann Really enjoyed watching your interview today! It’s so important to highlight the beautiful culture that belongs to that part of the world. Every bit of embroidery tells a heartwarming story that needs to be shared. 🍉 🍉 🍉 ! We 🫒 you . (We “all love” you 😊)

@PiersUncensored @Byoussef Arabs everywhere appreciating Bassam’s random “احا" mid dialogue 😂😂😂
