@VelikiyKazak @lorxell I feel as if he would have married someone else as the Targaryen “male” line was very thin by his time, especially if Daemon didn’t look like he’d have a productive marriage, but either way Daemon would likely be a bored king and die in Dorne

@AlwaysAlpharius @lorxell Viserys only married Alicent in the first place because Otto was in his ear. If Viserys named Daemon his heir, and kept him in court, that marriage (as well as Aegon, Aemond, Halaena, and Daeron as consequence), never would’ve happened.

Maturing is realizing Daemon Targaryen should have been King after Viserys. All of this would’ve been avoided and NO ONE, would have dared to challenge the throne.

If only people with Valyrian blood can communicate with dragons, how was Alys able to tell Vhagar to go hide while they were searching for Aemond?

Correct, I misread. Though either way Daemon would have had to kill Aegon, Aemond and Daeron to prevent his claim from being challenged, and he likely would have plunged the realm into a civil war all the same. The claim and connections of Alicent’s children are all too risky for Daemon to tolerate, and the way he would expunge them would cause him to be a second Maegor.

Some rulers would commission new crowns or reuse old ones depending on the message they want to send during their reign. Rhaenyra uses the one Viserys and Jaehaerys used because it symbolizes continuity in succession, whereas Aegon uses the Conqueror’s crown to tie him to the progenitor of the dynasty and House Targaryen’s male roots. Daeron uses the Crown of the Unworthy as a show of his (supposed) blood ties to his father

Butchers ball will be an accident I’m sure. The writers of House of the Accidents love to change everything from the source. Even events that were witnessed very publicly. Fanfic 100%
Macavity@Macavit25431185

I'm slightly concerned that Criston won't die in the same way as in FB because he looks to be fighting at the Butcher's Ball. Hopefully that's just a first wave to test the greens and then the rest of the army appears, Criston realises he's doomed and the book thing happens

@DomesticGullZ @Usaguinei Oh also, I am not claiming that post-USSR states and peoples were worse than post-colonial, but stating that the USSR ‘improved’ the lives of all ‘central Asian republics’ is like an American saying the same about indigenous Americans.

I hate to tell you this but the first girl’s school in sub Saharan Africa was the British Annie Walsh Memorial school in the protectorate of Sierra Leone, which was itself founded by the British for liberated slaves. The majority (though not all!) extant educational institutions in Africa are from the colonial era or can trace their heritage back to them. Note how this argument is a facet of the “White man’s burden” ideological practice. By endorsing Soviet intervention in neutral or relatively underdeveloped nations, you are endorsing a form of this ‘we know better thou’ practice which consistently leads to continued problems in both postcolonial and postsoviet states; just look at the ‘stans.

@Teslimatttt Morally justifiable ≠ politically sensible. The people in this room are her allies and often powerful in their own rights. Betrayal does not come from an enemy, it comes from an ally, and all too often the seeds are planted in distrust.

@thevyrovisuals A twisted form of honor it is to sleep with two queens while you are Kingsguard. Even Barristan the Bold notes that the worst Kingsguard are those who play the game of thrones, and the man known literally as the Kingmaker cannot be called honorable by the standards of Westeros.

Criston Cole is the only honorable man in Westeros. Daemon is a dragon-riding coward. Criston earned his position through pure skill...Daemon only fights when his opponent is already losing. Team Black fans just hate seeing a self-made man hold their privileged favorites accountable.

@emeyorX @sbi_empire And burn down the castle and its gold, thus removing the whole point of taking Casterly Rock? I think not, it would have to be taken by guile or sword, I’m afraid.

Also, Braavos is an Oligarchy, meaning that its political structure revolves around the economic interests of the elite. The Iron Bank is hugely important and thus likely controls some Braavosi politics, as such institutions have a habit of controlling other republics. Think the Medici of Firenze.

Of course, but if we assume Rhaenyra to be intelligent, she may realize that the rates of interest they would charge her would be absolutely impossible to deal with. On another note, Tyland Lannister has connections to bank and is seen to deposit some of the treasury with them, so it stands to reason that the Iron Bank may be green-aligned?

Why doesn't Rhaenyra and the black council just get a loan from the iron bank? They funded both stannis and cersei in the main series.

Aegon was missing, no one knew his whereabouts, and the realm was already falling into chaos. Yet the Faith still refused to crown Rhaenyra. Was this truly about religious doctrine, or was the Faith simply looking for a legal reason to avoid placing a woman on the Iron Throne?

@redacted2014 @MaceAhWindu The High Septon is chosen in the Starry Sept of Oldtown, the seat of house Hightower. If she elevated a High Septon by decree, she would be breaking with the main line of the Faith, orobwbly causing a surge for the Greens and anti-targaryen sentiment.

@MaceAhWindu I mean, to a point. I honestly fall on the side of "Well, sorry Septon, but you performed treason and your death is needed." She does that, gets a new Septon on board with her, and some of the problems she has coming are at the least, lessened

The High Septon is probably the safest dude in the capital Rhaenyra isn’t gonna risk pissing off the Faith more than they already are. It’s the why he’s talking to her like that: she’d be an idiot to harm him. It’d be like hurting the Pope in a country that’s 85% Roman Catholic
