The Government of Balochistan, through a hollowed-out judiciary, wants Dr. Mahrang Baloch and other BYC leaders convicted as soon as possible.
The BYC leadership has been jailed on unproven charges for more than 450 days, even as officials and mainstream media repeated those accusations as fact. After months of delay, state prosecution suddenly wants daily hearings under the guise of faceless courts. Delay benefited those in power when it kept them imprisoned without accountability. Speed serves them when convictions are to be delivered in the dark without any evidence.
The same authorities that spent more than a year branding BYC as a national security threat are refusing to test those claims in open court. They want the world to accept the accusations while ensuring nobody sees the evidence, the proceedings, or the basis for whatever punishment already decided for the Baloch who believed in peaceful political struggle.
This is how the an entire people’s voice is erased: baseless propaganda, endless FIRs, faceless courts, and sudden judicial urgency hidden from the entire country.
If Dr. Mahrang Baloch and other BYC leaders are convicted through hidden, rushed, and politically driven proceedings, it will not be remembered as justice. It will be remembered as an attempt to punish the people who gave Baloch grief, resistance and survival a public voice.
