Last night, two synagogues in Toronto, Beth Avraham Yoseph of Toronto in Thornhill and Shaarei Shomayim in North York were assaulted by gun shots. Earlier this week, Temple Emanu-El in North York was also maliciously attacked.  These criminal antisemitic attacks are an assault on the rights of Jewish Canadians to live and pray in safety. They are also fundamental violations of the Canadian way of life.  The federal government will use every tool available to confront antisemitic violence and hatred, and protect places of worship. Canada’s new government has introduced legislation to strengthen the Criminal Code, protect our communities, and combat hate.  Federal agencies, including the RCMP, will use every resource to support law enforcement to identify the perpetrators of these crimes and bring them to the full weight of justice.

Every Canadian must de-normalize the anti-Semitic actions which have been allowed to take root in our institutions and on our streets. "Globalize the 1ntifada" is a call for violence. Canadians cannot be bystanders to Jews being dehumanized. Do your part. I will do mine.

So many people are thanking Ahmad Al Ahmed. The HERO at the Bondi Beach shooting who risked his life — and got shot — to take down one of the tеrrorists. Ahmad is Muslim. Like many Muslims who fight in Israel FOR Israel. Ahmad can never be thanked enough.

My heart is broken. I am furious, and you should be too. Every day we wake to news of violent attacks against our Jewish friends, at home and around the world. Today, we woke to the horror of a mass shooting at a Hanukkah event on Bondi Beach, murdering 12 people and injuring countless others. Jewish families celebrating Hanukkah were targeted because they are Jewish, in an act of antisemitic terror. This is what our world has become. It has become open season on Jews, while the world looks on with ease as if we haven’t seen this before, as if history has not already taught us exactly where this leads. This violence has been emboldened by spineless leadership, moral cowardice, and a repeated failure to act decisively or stand unequivocally with the Jewish community. They called to “globalize the intifada,” and leaders did nothing. They dismissed antisemitism as merely “anti-Zionism,” and leaders did nothing. Silence, deflection, and excuses have consequences. Today, families will be forced to bury their loved ones because those in power chose inaction. This bloodshed did not come out of nowhere, it was allowed to grow. This is not isolated. It is not accidental. And it is not “complex.” It is the predictable result of hatred that has been normalized, tolerated, and rewarded by cowardice, and of a refusal by too many to defend the most basic foundations of our Western values: dignity, safety, and the fundamental right to exist without fear. Jewish lives are not expendable. Jewish safety is not negotiable. To my Jewish friends, I know it feels like we have been screaming into the void. We warned the world. We begged leaders to act. And still, more lives have been stolen to antisemitic terror. Please know that you are not alone. We love you. We mourn with you. And we will stand firmly by your side in our unwavering calls for justice, accountability, and real action. It is long past time for the world to wake up. How many more lives will be stolen by hate before courage replaces cowardice? Today I met with the parents of two Canadians murdered by the terrorist organisation Hamas on October 7th, 2023.   Their remarkable strength in the face of unimaginable grief is a testament to the resilience of the Jewish people. My message to Jacqui, Raquel, and Alain: Adi and Alexandre will not be forgotten. Not by me, not by our government, and not by our country.

I’m sick & furious that violent criminals are so often released and have the chance to viciously commit murder. Intimate partner, violence is an epidemic. We need stronger protections from violent RE-offenders. This mom heart is 💔for her kids. #Canada has failed her.

@robmackay1701a @gregbradyx Kids have increased mental health issues recently. What we shouldn’t be doing is allowing our govt to keep cutting to school services that help support these students. Or to our medical system that doesn’t have enough access to care for these children. Shame

@gregbradyx Very likely this kid has serious mental health issues (pure speculation) and are no services to deal with him / people like him. So many kids in ED system that simply don't belong there. But we don't want to spend $$ or stigmatize by institutionalizing & here we are.

A cold-blooded murder happened about 5km (in Pickering) from where my family sleeps every night (in Ajax). An elderly woman, who probably meant the world to her loved ones, her friends, her neighbours, took her last breath today. A 13 year old is in custody for this heinous murder. I will be patient, we all should be on the what/how/why. BUT you’re allowed to be heartsick. AND you’re allowed to be furious. Police officers tell me they know they signed up to be in dangerous scenarios, & see some terrible things - but they’ve never seen some of the things that are now becoming commonplace. We must do TWO things. 1) Support the women & men that protect the rest of us. 2) Create laws that harshly punish sadistic acts of violence & murder, regardless of circumstances. Until we realize this, & act accordingly - we are where we are, & it will slide in only one direction. Thoughts are with the victim’s family, & all who knew her. Someone’s best friend, mom, grandma, sister. Sadness we can’t imagine.

@gregbradyx The real issue is that the ford govt has withdrawn more and more funding from public schools boards. They have not kept up with inflation and are rapidly trying to dimantle the public system.

The stories I get from TDSB insiders about the wasteful, wasteful spending - you simply wouldn’t believe it. Whatever you think they’re doing….its worse. Trust me. The kids come last. The good teachers who care come second-last. It’s a bad joke. More on air tomorrow, I promise.

I say all the time that the reason I'm running is because I love my community and have seen beyond troublesome signs over the past 9 years. It's principles like those shown by @PierrePoilievre that convinced me to run. It's principles like those that make for true leadership and the kind of change this country needs. When our criminal justice system is a revolving door, Islamophobic attacks like this are more likely. A zero tolerance policy for violent criminals is the only sensible, common sense approach -- one that the Carney/Trudeau Liberals have continuously failed to uphold. Jail, not bail.

Horrified at the violent attack at the #Ajax Library. No one should fear for their safety because of their faith, identity, or simply existing in a public space. We must stand together against Islamophobia and all forms of hate. Ajax we are better & stronger together.
