@alandrummond2 I applaud @OttawaParamedic for giving residents informed choices that also protect 911 resources using alternate destinations & services that better suit the patients needs than knee-jerk emergency department visits as a catch- all for unscheduled health needs. Good move for all

People want to know more about what happens as we die. My TEDx talk for @TEDxNewcastle went live yesterday. It's already been viewed 44,000 times. Please help it get out into the world: pass it on in any way you can. bit.ly/3vTZ7OP

This is the start of a great thread on efforts we should be considering to counter respiratory infections spread in indoor spaces such as schools. COVID-19 has illuminated a problem that has always been present. Having many people sharing unfiltered air in closed spaces is bad.

Great job @WiltonDarryl speaking on @CBCOntarioToday - thank you for highlighting the issue of Ontario paramedics not being regulated health professionals. In the past 2 years I have experienced this disadvantage first hand in multiple roles. We are being held back. 1/2

A part of our ongoing research to understand which paramedic transported patients could be suitable for redirection from ED to non-ED community-based alternatives. Read our @CMAJ_Open study 👇 More research on this topic coming this winter and spring @HEI_mcmaster

Most interventions provided to nonemergent patients transported by paramedics to emergency departments were deemed suitable for urgent care clinics: cmajopen.ca/lookup/doi/10.… @Ryan_Strum @WalterTava @ProfBEEM @LaurenGriff1 @Andrew_P_Costa
