The $200 billion dollar "subsidy" he is referring to is the USA's trade deficit with Canada. That's not a subsidy. If you want an example of the USA subsidizing a foreign nation, take a look at Israel.
Bitcoin Teddy@Bitcoin_Teddy

Trump: “I love Canada … But the United States can't subsidize a country for $200 billion a year … You have to run your own country. And to be honest with you, Canada only works as a state … I'm sorry, we have to do this.”

@akhivae sure trumpy, don't need our oil, electricity, WATER, don't need anything from us, except the landmass that gives the USA its warning time for an attack from the Arctic. Even your imaginary Gold Dome cannot and will not work without the nation of Canada being involved. Fuck Off

@MikeBigsley7 @akhivae Do you understand a trade deficit exports dollars outside of the US and creates a need to print more USD? He's right for reducing trade deficits.

@Americanvalues @SerialCode1183 @Alixxa01 @grok Well no it’s showing that I understand how human social interactions work reciprocity predates government by millennia it’s very easy to come to these conclusions when you study how humans survive in the harshest environments it’s not from individualism but communal welfare.

You understand policing is structured with local police being the most capable of enforcing laws, States cant enforce state laws without local police, the federal government cant enforce its laws without state and local help. You vote for your sheriff, its not perfect but it gives your vote real power in law enforcement.

@Americanvalues @SerialCode1183 @Alixxa01 @grok You are strawmanning that I think I want government everywhere couldn’t be further from the truth I want the defunding of the police and military that has thousands of bases all over the world that is the big government not social security and public welfare.

What an idiot, Chinas navy cant even reach the US.... they have 1000s of tiny boats for domestic defense, the US can park nuclear powered carriers off Chinese shores for years straight, china still uses diesel powered carriers, no nuclear powered ships at all. This guy is disingenuous as hell

@calmecam Genuinely doesn't matter what you do. The US military budget increased $500 billion this year alone. Thats more than all US allies weapons purchasing combined. Your 35 planes are a rounding error.

Lisa Raitt says the US pausing the Permanent Joint Board on Defence is a nothingburger : "Various agencies show up. They have one day of meetings. Then letters are written to the prime minister and the president talking about what they accomplished in that day. That's it."

The US military spending went from $1 trillion to $1.5 trillion this year, the entire EU military budget including the UK is $650 trillion. The US made up for EU weapons purchases on its own. Europeans are capable people, you're capable of building militaries that can handle your defense. In the event of a massive conflict, Americans are your allies, the world knows this. No need to be upset

U.S. TO CUT NATO MILITARY COMMITMENTS The Trump administration plans to tell NATO allies this week that the U.S. will reduce the forces it makes available to the alliance during major crises, sources said. The move reflects President Trump’s push for Europe to take greater responsibility for its own defense. The Pentagon is expected to outline the plan at a NATO meeting in Brussels on Friday. The decision comes amid rising tensions within the alliance, with European allies worried about a broader U.S. pullback from NATO.

What is going on in Canada? Everyday you have another major announcement - like everyday - Bombardier and planes. Gold mines opening and expanding in Ontario and up North, huge new graphite plant in Quebec and on and on. What is going on in Canada. Oh yeah, @MarkJCarney

Yes, world history... the US was founded on the idea of small government and rights of the individual above all else, because history shows you the abuse a government is capable of. Don't give them control of your health-care, your income, your access to information, it only leads to abuse.

not to mention the conversion we have to pay for literally everything $20cad = $14.55usd so i’m paying us prices on a $14/hr salary, most people make even less on minimum wage it’s exhausting

Im actually so tired of Canada getting skipped Im tired of reading “NA Tour” and it’s just USA cities. It’s so insulting because we exist and even “small” artists sell out 3,000+ venues here just because they bother to come Im tired of the assumption we will just go to the USA

@djbip1986 @OrbitStudios While govts of both stripes have not made defence a priority, it’s certainly one now. I really don’t think the recent U.S. announcement has anything to do with our current defence spending (which is increasing).

Back in the real world, we’re spending more on our military than ever and meeting the 2% NATO requirement. This is all a hissy fit from the US because we’re moving off of them for military equipment. But right on cue, our “journalists” are siding with the US.
