Today, the event “IDBPay: High-Level Conversation on Rapid Payment Systems in Latin America and the Caribbean” took place, where the ABD Finance Working Group presented the recommendations from its latest white paper. The meeting addressed the role of rapid payment systems and digital public infrastructure in transforming the regional financial ecosystem, highlighting their potential to expand access, strengthen interoperability, and promote faster, more secure, and inclusive transactions. The discussion also highlighted regional experiences, common challenges, and opportunities for collaboration between the public and private sectors to advance modern payment systems in Latin America and the Caribbean. The ABD Finance Working Group, chaired by @RafaLechuga of @Citi, launched on April 15 the white paper “The Future of Digital Financial Inclusion in Latin America and the Caribbean”. The event brought together ABD members and regional leaders, including Silvia Constain (@Visa), Felipe Rincón (@Mastercard), Hugo Rodriguez (@AmericanExpress), and @noelzemborain (Junior Achievement Americas). @Marisela_AJ (@BIDInvest) also participated, alongside other key public and private sector stakeholders. The White Paper underscores the need to advance financial health in Latin America and the Caribbean, encompassing resilience, literacy and long-term economic security. Building on these themes, the launch event explored how digital innovation is reshaping financial inclusion, while also addressing the key structural barriers that remain and the best practices needed to expand financial access and support economic growth across the region. The event Unlocking Investment and Growth under the EU-Mercosur Framework featured Roger Libby, Vice President and Head of Corporate Public Affairs for the Americas at @DHLGlobal, a co-chair company for ABD’s Trade Facilitation Working Group. This high-level public–private dialogue focused on how closer coordination between governments and the private sector can help translate the agreement into concrete results.
