I ended up down a rabbit hole @ebtapper I learnt 1) 1st line for AVB in 1974 = Sengstaken 2) 2nd = surgical 'Milnes Walker' ligation 3) 3rd = portacaval shunt 3) Child's 'simple scoring system' wasnt yet eponymous 4) Massive pie charts allowed! 5) Acknowledgments were on point👌

@LorrindaD @ebtapper I learned during my residency to introduce the team as SUPPORTIVE and palliative care team, rather than just palliative care team and referring to them as experts in management of symptoms rather than just saying end of life care or hospice.

@ebtapper Patients have a huge misconception of Palliative care and Hospice. Attitudes of patients do not change because they believe palliative and hospice care are the same. Is there a way to get the education to the patient during their first visit to the Hepatologist/Health Center?
