My flight from Kolhapur to Navi Mumbai was less than 50 mins. The journey from Navi Mumbai airport to my home (Santacruz) is 1h17m. The new airport is nice and stuff but so many flights are being scheduled here. It’s becoming inconvenient to timely schedule the travel.

छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराजांवर मी पाहिलेला पहिला चित्रपट म्हणजे प्रभासचा "छत्रपती". विशेष म्हणजे त्या चित्रपटात शिवराय कुठेही प्रत्यक्ष दिसत नाहीत… तरीही मला तिथेच छत्रपती भेटले. चित्रपटात एक प्रसंग आहे, शिवाजी नावाचे पात्र त्याच्या आईला विचारतो, “छत्रपती म्हणजे कोण? छत्रपती बनण्यासाठी काय करावं लागतं?” तेव्हा त्याची आई शांतपणे उत्तर देते की, “जो स्वतःसाठी जगतो तो सामान्य… आणि जो सर्वांसाठी जगतो तो छत्रपती.” बस! इथेच मला छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराज भेटले. त्या आधीपर्यंत “शिवाजी महाराज” हे नाव होतं, इतिहासातलं एक व्यक्तिमत्त्व होतं… पण त्या एका वाक्याने ते माझ्या मनात विचार बनून उभे राहिले. चित्रपटात त्याची आई “शिवाजी असा, शिवाजी तसा” असं एकेरी उल्लेख करते. पण त्यावेळी बाहेरच्या विकृत राजकीय जगाचा प्रभाव नव्हता, त्यामुळे तसा उल्लेख अपमान वाटला नाही… उलट त्यांच्या मागचा अर्थ समजून घेता आला. नाहीतर आता क्षणाक्षणाला भावना दुखतात. पुढे चित्रपटात नायक लोकांसाठी लढतो, त्यांना गुलामीतून बाहेर काढतो… आणि लोक त्याला “छत्रपती” म्हणून हाक मारू लागतात. त्या क्षणीही मला जाणवलं की छत्रपती ही फक्त पदवी नाही, ती लोकांच्या मनातून मिळणारी ओळख आहे. या चित्रपटात शिवाजी महाराजांचं शारीरिक पात्र नव्हतं… पण त्यांचा विचार, त्यांचा आत्मा आणि त्यांची ओळख होती. आणि कदाचित म्हणूनच हा अनुभव इतका खोलवर गेला. आजही त्या चित्रपटातील “"अग्नि स्कलना संधगधरिपू वर्ग प्रल्या राधा छत्रपति…” हे गाणं ऐकलं की अंगात एक वेगळीच ऊर्जा येते. कारण ते गाणं फक्त शब्द नाहीत.. ती छत्रपतींच्या पराक्रमाची जाणीव आहे. मी शिवरायांना पहिल्यांदा पडद्यावर पाहिलं नाही… मी त्यांना पहिल्यांदा समजलं. आणि कदाचित, हाच खरा छत्रपतींचा अनुभव आहे. आज चित्रपटावर राजकारण करणाऱ्या लोकांनी हे समजून घेतलं तर बरं होईल. आणि नावासमोर किंवा नावानंतर छत्रपती असा उल्लेख करवून घेणाऱ्या वंशजांनी जनतेसाठी काय कामे केली म्हणून स्वतःचा छत्रपती असा उल्लेख करवून घेता याची सुद्धा त्यांनी जनतेला उत्तरं द्यावीत.
