When Jesus spoke of eating His flesh in John 6, He had already given the crowd an indication that He was has speaking figuratively. Earlier, in verses 32–33, Jesus had called Himself bread, comparing Himself with the manna in the wilderness. When the people asked to be given that bread, Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty” (John 6:35). As if to clear up any misunderstanding, Jesus then distinguishes the physical from the spiritual: “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life” (John 6:63, ESV).

@smithy_cole @Deano8182 "6 days you shall labor... but the 7th day is "a Sabbath" to the LORD." Who says our labors are to start on Sunday? What if they start on Wednesday? Sabbath just means a day set aside for rest and worship. It doesn't mean "Saturday"

@smithy_cole @Deano8182 You're arguing like I'm against the Sabbath - I'm not. My point is Sabbath was established for man, not man for the Sabbath. Which day during the week you're resting from your labors and resting in HIs presence is somewhat irrelevant.

@smithy_cole @Deano8182 Jesus IS our rest. Everyday. Hebrews 4. Notice the phrase "that rest" it's superimposes the old "Sabbath" rest with a spiritual rest that doesn't change based on the day of the week.

@AmorProximi @Deano8182 It was the pharisees that added all the laws about the Sabbath. Jesus was condemning what they had done to His day of rest making it a burden on the people. Jesus said its okay to do good on the Sabbath. We spend the day in church, hiking, singing to people in hospitals, ect.

@smithy_cole @Deano8182 Uhh, no offense, but... Without the resurrection - we aren't a new creation. To celebrate the resurrection is to celebrate creation.

@AmorProximi @Deano8182 You don`t understand Sabbath, You think like a pharisee. The Bible says to celebrate the Resurrection is to be Baptized as it has the Death, Burial and Resurrection. See Romans 6:3-5 . The Sabbath is a memorial of creation it has nothing to do with the resurrection.
