Sad to see that even Bengaluru’s “protected” heritage is steadily crumbling.
From 3,000-year-old prehistoric tombs in Devanahalli to the 9th-century Begur temple, legal protection on paper has failed to stop garbage dumping, vandalism, quarrying, and even treasure hunting.
The core issues are systemic:
• Severe underfunding and chronic staff shortages in both State and Central archaeological bodies
• Poor coordination between archaeology departments, district administration, and municipal agencies
• Lack of on-ground monitoring and post-notification responsibility
The delay in reopening Bengaluru’s third-oldest museum in India only reinforces the priorities when it comes to Heritage .
These stones have survived centuries of changes and natural decay.
It would be a profound tragedy if they fail to survive us, after Independence.
Grateful to @DeccanHerald and @Amullya_23 madam for giving space to this crisis at a time when such serious heritage reporting is becoming rare.

The Karnataka Congress Government promised 5 Guarantees and delivered them all. Now the 6th Guarantee – Gruha Arogya – is saving lives!
In just 6 months, 65,00,000+ citizens have been screened at their doorsteps, including BP, Diabetes, Eye check-ups + quality spectacles distributed. Thousands of cases of hypertension, diabetes, anaemia, oral, breast & cervical cancers have been detected early & almost all are receiving free treatment already.
As early detection of any medical issue saves lives. I urge the citizens to take part in Gruha Arogya & kindly Cooperate with ASHA workers to get screened under Gruha Arogya today.

To ensure efficiency in emergency services, @DHFWKA has taken the decision to take over 108 ambulance services from private operators effective February 2026.
For the first time in the country such an initiative is being taken up to ensure there is no compromise on emergency services.
We will be recruiting EMT (Emergency Medical Technicians) soon. These technicians will also be given necessary training to handle critical cases and coordinating with call centre and nearest hospitals.
