In one case a judge caught DOJ claiming a detainee had a 2009 drug conviction. He would have been four years old. A former Bush appointed federal judge put it plainly: in the entire history of the Justice Department, nobody's seen anything close to this.

In Nuremberg, a mob butchered 48-year-old Rabbi Mordechai ben Hillel, his wife, and their five children. Their crime? They were seven of the 628 Jews in the city who refused to abandon their faith. A man known as Rindfleisch claimed a divine mission to wipe out the Jews and led mobs from town to town across Franconia. The attackers forced their way in and slaughtered them. Rabbi Mordechai was a student of Rabbi Meir of Rothenburg and related to the Rosh. His writings would later be cited throughout the Shulchan Aruch. On August 1, 1298, the scholar, the husband, and the father of five was cut down with his family for remaining Jewish.
