@adamlisagor This is absolutely spot-on, from my observation. John appears to be in the second group. Jonas, however, is nuts for it. I swear, I can SEE it lighting up his brain in different ways. I insisted on getting him one because I think this is his future and he’s all in on it.

Vision Pro theory: It’s about two kinds of AVP owners: the ones for whom Vision Pro is sticky—they use it for hours every day and miss it when they don’t—and the ones who own it, think it’s cool, think it probably points to the future, but ultimately prefer their other devices and find themselves not using AVP for days at a time. (I’m in the first group, but a lot of my friends are in the second.) My theory’s about suspension of disbelief, and seeing past the artifacts and limitations of the tech. The first group suspends their disbelief, almost by nature. They see past the flaws of the display, to the point that for them, there is no display. The hardware disappears and all they see is the digital world mapped to their space. When they’re in a space, they are *in the space* and they turn off the part of their brain that tells them none of this is real. The second group is attuned to the flaws (maybe physiologically) and when they put AVP on their face, they see in front of them two small displays hooked up to a computer, combining left and right live images into a stereoscopic reproduction of the world and layering UI on top. They’re not wrong. This reproduction is very cool to them, it’s even convincing. But it’s not real and they don’t ever forget this other reality is mediated by hardware. I don’t even think you can choose to be one way or another, I think it might be the way your brain works, and to my disbeliever friends in the second group, I support you. The way your brain works allows you make beautiful, impeccable things. It’s your gift to disbelieve. As a suspender, my literal job is to see past the flaws and constraints of the tech, and get excited about the ideal (even if I have to stretch sometimes to see it). I’m not saying the suspenders are better than the disbelievers, or vice versa. But I sure am having fun with this thing, and I sure am excited to see the flaws and constraints go away till the tech disappears for everyone.

My kid has had a phone since he was FIVE and never so much as scratched it. Now he’s 19 and today his phone is at the bottom of the Charles River.

@McCarron I’m about the same and it was like an eye chart. The smaller the words got, I was all, “No way.”

This is probably my last tweet. It took me 10 minutes to figure out how to post it. My husband is rooting for KC and he’s an absolute shit bird.

I don’t see how this should be controversial at all. It wasn’t even obvious what was happening or what should happen. But the right decision was made in the end. There should be no controversy over not coming to the right decision immediately, amidst shock and grief.

The NFL has taken plenty of heat today over the hour-plus that passed between Hamlin suffering cardiac arrest and needing to be revived and the NFL’s decision to cancel the game. @radiocolin The second we took a vacation we got it, too. I didn’t get these vaccines to stay home. But now if you’ve had it and had the booster, you’ve got a free pass for a couple months, I figure.

@radiocolin I do not have that link but if you stay at home forever you’ll never get sick again. From someone who is staying home because that’s just what we do.

@radiocolin This happened to us and we didn’t need a gate agent. We were able to add Jonas’s at a kiosk when we checked our bags and just printed it. I couldn’t believe it actually worked with no hassle.

@pmcg @daringfireball @gruber @jsnell I don’t know why I think this, but I think potato-based is filling and bread-based is stuffing. And I think dressing is a synonym for stuffing. But I thought potato-based filling was more regional to PA. I have no scientific basis for these opinions.

@daringfireball @gruber @jsnell @AmyJane I’m glad to hear John call it “Filling” From commercials I thought it was called “stuffing”, but my Iowa-raised parents called it “dressing”. When we visited my mom’s friends new to State College, PA, they said they had learned to call it “Fillin”!
