BREAKING: President Trump says the strike on an Iranian school that reportedly killed over 100 children at the beginning of Operation Epic Fury wasn’t done on purpose and is being investigated by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth. “It's such a strange question to be asked at this state because you're talking about a long time ago, but nobody did that on purpose… Mistakes are made. War is nasty. But I know it's under investigation.”

🧵 🇺🇲 Trump at the G7 press conference, asked about the strike on the Shajareh Tayyebeh elementary school for girls in Minab on February 28, the first day of Operation Epic Fury: "Nobody did that on purpose. Mistakes are made. War is nasty. But I know it's under investigation." What the investigation covers: 120 Democratic members of Congress, Senators Gillibrand, Warnock, and Baldwin have all demanded answers. The NYT reported the school was struck by an American Tomahawk cruise missile. Iranian officials say at least 168 people were killed - mostly girls between the ages of 6 and 12. The casualty figure has not been independently verified. The school was located near an Iranian IRGC naval base - a base that NBC News reported had been closed for over a decade, per Iran's education ministry and a local parent. Hegseth stated on March 3 that Operation Epic Fury would have "no stupid rules of engagement." Trump on June 17: "Nobody did that on purpose. Mistakes are made." 🧵 ⬇️

Today, Semafor reports that HUMANS, NOT AI, are responsible for the Minab school strike. That finding doesn't close the question. It sharpens it. Maven processed 1,000 targets in 24 hours using outdated intelligence. A human approved the strike. 175 children died. The question was never whether AI pulled the trigger. It was whether compressing the targeting cycle, reducing thousands of analyst hours to minutes, leaves enough human deliberation to catch a school that stopped being a military compound. Anthropic's red line wasn't about autonomous weapons in the abstract. It was about exactly this architecture. 🔗 semafor.com/article/03/18/…

🇺🇲 Trump at the G7 press conference - a candid explanation of why the deal happened: "We would run out of reserves at about four weeks. There are reserves all over the world, and we would really run out. And there'd be a time when you wouldn't be able to get it." The Strait of Hormuz carries 20% of global oil supply. It was closed for 107 days. The IEA's global strategic petroleum reserves in February 2026: approximately 1.2 billion barrels. Global consumption: approximately 102 million barrels per day. Four weeks is roughly the margin. Trump acknowledged the war he started was approaching the point where the global economy would face a supply crisis with no buffer. "I didn't want to be Herbert Hoover."

US🇺🇸 hypocrisy manifest: A reporter asks Trump whether any members of his administration will be held accountable for the bombing of the Minab girl’s school in Minab, which killed 168 children. Trump’s answer: ‘No…that’s such a strange question to be asked. Nobody did that on purpose…war is nasty, it’s under investigation.’ Remember, outrage for crimes and atrocities is only reserved for the US’ official enemies. When the US literally murders children at school, the President simply shrugs his shoulders and essentially tells the world to forget about it.

Donald Trump: ‘Netanyahu gets a little excited sometimes.’ Bizarre choice of words, akin to describing Hitler as getting ‘a little excited sometimes’ during a genocide, ethnic cleansing, and mass slaughter across Europe and the Soviet Union?
