Full Text of the Message by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution In the Name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful Passionate and faithful people of Iran, As you have become aware, an agreement has been signed between the Presidents of Iran and the United States. In the process of reaching this stage, the responsible officials, out of concern and with good intentions, made great efforts. It was, however, the President of the United States who, out of desperation, resorted to various means to bring about this outcome. In principle, I held a different opinion. Nevertheless, based on the commitment given to me by the respected President—acting as the head of the Supreme National Security Council—on behalf of himself and the other members, regarding the safeguarding of the rights of the Iranian nation and the Resistance Front, and his explicit acceptance of responsibility for it, I authorized this course of action. He has also explicitly stated that if the American side seeks excessive concessions, they will not submit to them. From this moment on, we—that is, you, the proud nation, and this humble servant—shall await the fulfillment of the stated conditions. However, it is obvious that any face-to-face negotiations that may take place in the future do not mean acceptance of the enemy’s views.
