Most supposedly gay TV shows are actually made for young women, not for gay men.
And that's what Starfleet academy was. It was Star Trek turned into a teen drama soap opera for young girls.
The problem is young girls don't really like Star Trek, and no one else likes teen dramas for young girls.

The thing is, having a gay Klingon didn’t help “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy” to expand; it caused the entire franchise to contract and collapse in on itself. There are audiences who like gay content. You can make gay shows for gay audiences. You can even sometimes get a breakout hit from a “Heated Rivalry.” But people who don’t want gay content will not consume it. You cannot trick them into consuming it by cramming it into popular franchises or genres. Writers think the audience for “Star Trek” or “Dragon Age” is locked in and will tolerate whatever themes they put into it, but the audience is absolutely prepared to drop these franchises and walk away if they don’t like what they are given. Franchise creatives need to be more respectful of their core audiences.

It's amazing that so many people feel entitled to decree, to all of society, that any sexual or romantic interaction that might entail some sort of "power differential" or "power disparity" is hereby deemed inherently abusive, and therefore impermissible.
A blanket rule to be imposed on all private adult behavior: regardless of individual circumstances. Because the decree-proclaimers believe they can somehow know, as a matter of pure dogma, that no "consent" can ever be freely given in such scenarios, even if both adult parties consciously believe themselves to be consenting.
It really takes extreme arrogance to think you can authoritatively generalize, in such an imperious and self-certain way, about the totality of human experience. Especially regarding a dimension of human experience with such infinite subtle complexities as sexual/romantic interaction.
Still, they believe they're entitled to police everyone else's behavior with their top-down dogmatic dictates, based on this weird moral absolutism they demand everyone else uncritically accept.

Friend of mine is 35 years old, married and doesn’t want kids.
His household income is roughly $300k/yearly and his house is nearly paid off.
They invest a good portion of their income for retirement, take multiple yearly vacations and live a nice life.
I think people like this are going to regret not having kids in their future.
One day when he’s old all he will have to look back on is the random stuff he bought and wasted money on.
Instead of putting that money towards having kids and building a family he’s choosing consumerism.
This just seems so wasteful and boring to me.

Trekkies and longtime fans of 1990s and early-2000s sci-fi, people who suddenly found themselves starved for good science-fiction television.
We went into Discovery with massive hope. After years of waiting for a new Trek series, this felt like the one that could finally deliver. Instead, we all ran into the same wall: deep, bitter disappointment.
It wasn’t just one problem. The show tried to rewrite established Star Trek history by introducing technology that would fundamentally alter the entire future timeline, from The Next Generation all the way through Voyager. On top of that, it radically reinvented the Klingons, turning one of the franchise’s most beloved and iconic races into… whatever that was supposed to be.
Credit where credit is due, though. Jason Isaacs and Michelle Yeoh were phenomenal in Season 1. Their performances crackled with intensity, and the Mirror Universe arc remains the undisputed high point of the entire series. Unfortunately, even that brilliance couldn’t save the show.
I never watched beyond Season 2, I could not force myself.
