James Edge

@AndTheMindstep

A guitar, a double bass, a drums and a sing with a general disregard for standard string tensions. Except on the bass. And the drums.

On this day in history 2020- I decided to try and get into Pearl Jam- I listened to them an hour a day for a month, my theory was that I would end up liking them- my theory was thoroughly wrong.

I work with a man who sneezes in the most obnoxiously pantomime way, far louder than is necessary. Fully vocalised. I hear him 3 floors up. Assuming no one has ever called him out for it. Deeply unpleasant. Sometimes want to kill him.

@JasonHazeley @JasonHazeley @JohnFinnemore So rare to find yourself crying both with laughter and at the sheer beauty of something simultaneously, but he's done it to me so many times. Mostly while I'm trying to drive, the dreadful cad.

John Finnemore is a literal genius. If he was writing TV or novels he'd be hailed as one of the greatest artists of our age, but because his medium is radio (and I'm *so* glad it is) he gets 1% of the recognition he deserves

@freshnet @bbcintroducing Despite being someone who could easily fall into the long song camp in terms of what I realease I fall on the side of more songs / artists included being a good thing :). It's a short from me x

CAN I JUST SHARE my maths problem with our last @BBCIntroducing Mixtape this year Twitter chums? After listening to approx 1k tunes in the last month my 57 favourites (all equally good) last 3h12m. The show lasts 1h including links. Do we play the 20 shortest or 13 longest ones?

Dear pluggers & fellow musicians. Thanks for generously sending your stuff in the post to me at the BBC, but since March there's been no staff there to even open it. Everyone is working from home, all submissions are digital. This is destined for landfill: PLEASE STOP SENDING IT!

Thanks @DropHaystack podcast for inviting me on for a chat about music. The guys found a song of ours, Where We're Going To from our first album In The Hills The Cities (10 this year!), and talked about it on a previous episode. Loved this. open.spotify.com/episode/6JvD80…

@AndTheMindstep James, sorry we missed this! Need to do a better job of tracking all our socials. Thank you! We were thrilled to find your music, and no one here has trouble believing that it got national radio play! If you ever want to come on the show, we would love to have you! Standing offer

Episode 9! This week listen to some incredible Appalachian Dulcimer playing by Sam Rizzetta. Then singer-songwriter John Mooney's "The Devil and Me." Finally, we travel to London, for James Edge and the Mindstep's "Where We're Going To." tinyurl.com/yxozgcf3

@DropHaystack Ps Dave Matthews is a common touch point - I'm not familiar, will give DMB a listen this week.

Hey! Did u like the bit out of the latest episode where we talked about what was happening in the world of wrestling (when the '95 rumble took place). Like are these extra tidbits interesting or do they bloat the ep? Timestamped here: youtu.be/DKuuNheA31w?t=…

Many thanks @freshnet for playing a track from @HarveyLordMusic project I got involved with, the album Well... Old Brother Siskin, this evening on @BBC6Music. It's an incredible piece of music and I'm thrilled to have contributed some arrangementy dots.
