These are not easy images to see. Photos by @VlKrasnoshchok But, you see, the world is forgetting about Kharkiv, Ukraine, even as Putin tries to erase the second-biggest city in Ukraine, and even as people in Washington kind of hope for some kind of partition that would give Putin such a place. Problem is: The people of Kharkiv refuse to surrender. Yesterday, a beautiful spring day, people filled the parks in and around Kharkiv city, to take some small rest in a hellish time. Then, Russia precisely targeted these crowded parks, including in the city centre, where, miraculously no one died, and including this lakeside club pictured, where many were killed. This is Russian peace. What's the sin committed by these people of Kharkiv? They insist on living in freedom. The idea of freedom is being defined now in Ukraine, because only in Ukraine are people willing to die for it. And do you know that the USA, which in the 1990s and 2000s de-armed Ukraine, still refuses to let Ukrainians use good weapons to hit the places from which Russians send missiles to parks like this in Kharkiv?
