‼️SOUTHERN MODE BUST CHASERS‼️
If you have photos of the agitated cumulus on the dryline yesterday, the eventual weak/storms after dark, or any information that may be helpful for future study, feel free to reply to this post. This will help us at the Chase Archive…
DFW STORM CHASERS: I’m working on a story about the great art & science of storm chasing for @startelegram 🌪️ If you will be out chasing in the next few weeks and you would be willing to have a stowaway, I would LOVE to hear from you. Reach out! @TxStormChasers#txwx#stormchaser
After sitting in Guthrie all afternoon, we made the tough call around 4:30pm... let's go south. It was a high risk, high reward play, but in the moment, we thought it was the right call.
By the time we got to Edmond, we pulled off again and checked satellite, only to see towers exploding near Enid. We sat and stirred for a while longer before finally deciding to blast back north up I-35 and boy did it pay off.
Here's a few clips from the monster tornado we caught near Braman, OK, including a zero meter intercept during the initial phases, orbiting satellite, and much more.

Our hearts also go out to everyone impacted by the other tornado that hit populated areas south of Enid.

12z observed soundings on 4/19/23 at OUN and FWD vs 12z today
We are warmer, have a weaker cap, and deeper moist layer at OUN.
Similar story at FWD.
